Don't be surprised to see more games shown at the Xbox reveal than were at the PS4 one (with almost all of them using a standard controller).

Given Microsofts track record they've never beaten Sony in IP's. Lets see how they they do with these four new projects and lets hope they last.

Aaron Greenburg denied they would be showing apps and Kinect. Let's see if he keeps his promises.

What exactly did he say?  And why so much doubt instead of excitement?

Check his twitter account. I don't feel like diggin that up. It's recent though so you won't need to read through much.

Ofcourse they will, but they'll also announce hardcore games and new ips this time.

hard-core

  [hahrd-kawr, -kohr]
adjective
1.
unswervingly committed; uncompromising; dedicated: a hard-core segregationist.
2.
pruriently explicit; graphically depicted: hard-core pornography.  Compare soft-core.
3.
being so without apparent change or remedy; chronic: hard-core inflation; hard-core unemployment.

which definition of harcore are we talking about here????

I can't wait to see that Usher dance again.

/not

Hopefully they focus on a lot more then Kinect. I'm really not into those motion devices. Decent technology but these companies can't utilize it for crap yet.

Just read everything going back to when the announcement was made, didn't see anything like that.  : |

well if kinect 2.0 solve all the problems that kinect 1.0 had it will be just fine. i actually like kinect although it was utilize in crappy ways. steel batallion for instance. kinect didnt force them to make a crappy overall game. i actually can play the game pretty flawlessly but its not really that good.

the problem with kinect wasnt kinect but people instantly bashing kinect anything. most of the scores reflected not really people playing kinect but people trying to kill it by posting crap opinions

tbh kinect is the least of my worries about e3. microsoft shouldve have snatch up thq and secured their games. saints row 4 exclusive to xbox for example

Kinect 2.0 can solve some problems but the fundamental problems stay the same, ie gesture recognition lag and reliability, comfortable navigation in 3D environments and what to do when you move your hands/arms through solid objects.

You can combine it with a controller for 3D navigation but then your hands are stuck together on the controller, leaving Kinect only for head tracking and voice recognition, and some little extras like throwing a grenade or press virtual buttons.

1:1 motion tracking only works in big open spaces, avoiding collision with anything as much as possible since that instantly breaks 1:1 tracking. Gesture recognition no matter how good still leaves plenty of problems, it takes longer to make the gesture plus it might not always trigger correctly especially when things get hectic in combat.

I'm still interested to see if they can surprise me. Tumble did on Move, pretty magical placing things precisely in 3D space, and Pixeljunk 4am would not have had the same precision with a controller. Losing the second analog stick made it less interesting for me for everything else besides sports champions.

Kinect 2.0 will have some gems too, but it simply can't solve the independent dual analog move and look. Kinect bashing was mostly because the solution to 'core' Kinect games was by putting almost everything on rails. Solve the accuracy and lag it's still on rails.

I'm hoping for something like Mirror's edge on Kinect 2.0. Free running, jumping, ducking on the spot could work, how far you lift your legs determes how big the steps are you make to get precise foot placement. Headtracking would be nice for some extra immersion. Turning will be less immersive by sticking your arms out, srafing both arms to a side, backing up by leaning backwards maybe. You win some by implementing precise foot placement, jump height, give up some in a lot in other departments. It might still be totally frustrating, might be fun for half an hour at a time.
