Remember when Nintendo was stupid enough to try and keep the GameBoy going against the Game Gear/Lynx/Game.com/Nomad/Neo Geo Pocket? It just goes to show you that new technology trumps all.

Oh, and don't forget how the Sega Master System came and totally stole all of the NES' market share since it was way more powerful. Then the CD-i nabbed all their SNES sales since it used a revolutionary new technology. Yeah, Nintendo's had a rough road all right, opting for less-than-top-of-the-line hardware.

Of course, Nintendo's not the only one. We all know that Sony got its goose cooked last gen by the XBOX, and the generation before that by the 3DO. And Atari's 2600 was totally swept off the market by the Colecovision back in the day. Yeah, power's totally everything when it comes to consoles. How could we not see this before?

Have we all noticed except for last gen (dreamcast) the weakest hardware has won. I believe this cause the systems had more innovative titles and not worried about how pretty they look.

Closer to 6 per console. And you have to remember, that's an average, meaning it's representative of nobody. Some gamers only ever get 1 to 2 games for a given system they own, others get 20+.

Ps2 alone sold like 1 billion pieces of software--well, according to Wikipedia, it did. Still, congratz to Nintendo and all their success!
