There's a chance that they are working on a Star Fox game. However I have a little theory: NintendoLand.

NintendoLand is a great game for marketing future releases. Pikmin was there, Yoshi was there (to market Yoshi Yarn, and Yoshi's Story 3DS), Luigi's Mansion minigame (to market Luigi's Mansion 2), maybe the DK crash course for DKC Returns for the 3DS, Animal Crossing for the upcoming 3DS game. So the Metroid minigame is use for marketing a new Metroid game, and that might as well be Retro's game.

There's the rumor that the guys who made Nano Assault Neo (can't remember their names) are working on a new F-Zero game, so that might be the reason why a F-Zero game is present in NintendoLand.

There are no Star Fox minigames in NintendoLand, so if my theory is correct we might not see a new installment, at least not yet.

While your Nintendoland theory has merit, the new Wii U game by Shin'en is almost certainly FAST Racing League 2, not F Zero. Over the last two years they've been updating/following up their Wiiware games, and FAST is next in line. That's what their tweet was referring to, I'd bet money on it. Shin'en are a four man studio, as talented as they are, they don't have the manpower for something like F Zero.

Didn't knew Shin'en was such a small team. So I guess that destroys my F-Zero argument lol.

I still think Nintendo used NintendoLand to market future releases (for both 3DS and Wii U), so I still have hopes for a new F-Zero game.

I'm inclined to agree, Yoshi/Pikmin/Luigi's Mansion/DK/Animal Crossing have already come to fruition, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendoland was designed as a warmup of sorts for upcoming first party efforts. Here's hoping Metroid and F Zero aren't 3DS games... XD

I'm not sure why ppl want Retro to develop a Star Fox or F-Zero game so much. Retro is capable of creating masterpieces. The Metroid Prime trilogy was a masterpiece imo. While ppl need to not forget that Star Fox is just a in rails shooter and F-Zero is just a racing game. As fun as they can be, they can't be masterpieces, so why waste such talent? Let some less talented folks deal with these kind of games, I'm sure they will still be extremely fun, but not masterpieces cause they don't need to be and imo they can't be.

It's not what I want, it's on Nintendo, and they haven't let Retro working on any original I.P. for like 13 years now. So if its going to be a Nintendo IP, I think Star Fox would be a good fit and makes sense.

We know Iwata was looking for a studio to take over the IP anyway.

That theory is genious. It gets even more weight if you consider the fact that it had no Kirby attractions in NintendoLand. That seemed extremely odd to me since Nintendo seem to be giving this franchise a riddiculous amount of support (maybe to even the point where it became underserved, I blame Iwata). But if you consider the fact that Kirby saw a game a year on Wii since 2010 (Epic Yarn2010, Return to Dreamland2011, 20th anniversary collection2012(thx for ignoring Metroid's anniversary and giving us this instead btw Nintendo!)), and add to this Mass Attack on DS(2011), that's 4games in 3years!!!

And you can even add to this the fact that the DS saw 3other Kirby games during it's lifspan, plus all the Kirby games on virtual console that appeared on 3DS. I really can't imagine a new game coming before atleast 1or2 more years(and it would probably be on 3DS) atleast I sure hope so! The same way I could'nt imagine the franchise not being represented in Nintendoland, but you'r theory would explain it perfectly.

pikmin 3 started as a wii project that got moved to wii u. actual developing time is much less than that.

From when it was announced, to when it was released. Too long.

Amen, they said they were "working on it" back at E3 2008. >_<

Since Nintendo Land seems to be a way to show off kwy 1st party of 2013-14, maybe we will see Nintendo Land 2 holiday 2014 showing off games of 2015-16. Kirby, Star Fox, Advance/Battalion Wars, Wario are some possibilities

Would you guys buy a 3rd person Metroid game with a Resident Evil 4 type camera? I just randomly thought of that and think it would be kind of neat, I might be the only one though.

No, but put the camera on her back and a bit further from her (so just like any adventure game like Uncharted or other games like Batman) and we can start talking.

Although I'm not sure how the morphball would work :-/

Would you even need to change the camera angle for the morph ball?

I would love a third person Metroid with an Uncharted type camera myself. It would differentiate it from the Prime games.
