Forums - Sales - Will the PS4 outsell the XBox One and WiiU?

The PS4 might outsell the 720 if the always online and no used games rumours end up being true but it won't outsell the Wii U.

I'm expecting the PS4 and 720 to retail for $500 and the Wii U to have a $50 price cut in November, which would leave the Wii U Basic SKU being half the price.

You've also got to remember we're in the middle of the worst worldwide recession we've seen in donkeys years and that Nintendo have the strongestpstable of system selling IPs in the business.

1st Wii U
2nd PS4
3rd 720

That year's head start is going to make all the difference. If the Wii hadn't been a ridiculous sales phenomenon the 360 would have won last gen due to its head start.

The PS3 may even reach 100 million console systems and continue the tradition of PS1/PS2 all sell over 100 million console systems. PS3 may eventually sell more systems than the Wii and win this console sales generation. PS3 is closing down the sales gap on the Wii down to 24 million and is now roughly equal to the XBox 360 in total sales.

It will not. It would take another 4-to-5 year of the PS3 selling at current levels for it to hit 100 million, so unless the PS4 doesn't sell all that well and people opt to keep buying the PS3 instead I doubt the PS3 will make 95 million. Because once the PS3 came on the market it took that long for the PS2 to sell 10 million units.

At current levels, the PS3 is selling 13M per year despite having no price drop in years. So, at current levels, it will take 2 years to hit 100M.

And get your facts right. The PS2 sold about 50M after the PS3 hit the market including 13.7M in 2007.

Snowdog is right, WiiU's headstart will be the difference maker. The PS4 and nextbox will be outsold by WiiU this holiday due to Mario and the WiiUs price advantage. Adding to the headstart.

The WiiU already launched with a Mario game and that didn't help much.

Nintendo IPs aren't what they used to be. Nintendogs? NSMB? Brain Age? Sales are not what they used to be when the casuals were on board.

PS4 & NextBox will have the same sales this christmas if they have roughly the same price. The cheaper console will have higher sales.

The Wii U will have the highest sales if all the announced games from Nintendo (3D Mario, X, Mario Kart, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2) will be released before christmas (along with Watch Dogs, Assassins Creed 3, Rayman Legends, Splinter Cell, Deus Ex, etc.).

After christmas? I think no one could make realistic estimates for the console sales in 2014.

Those 3rd party games won't have much effect on WiiU sales since they will sell mostly on the PS3/360/PS4/720. As for the first party ones, as I said, are Nintendo IPs that as big these days?

With 3 million sales in 6 months the Wii U is selling at a slow pace. In 6 months time when the PS4 and Nextbox launch around November: the Wii U may will have less than a 5 million sales head start,

How can anyone answer this question when almost no big IP is released by now? Wait and see if Zelda, Mario and Pokemon can repeat the success of their precessors.

"based on the lack of information"... Hum... Interresting topic.
Based on that only; I do not see how I would believe the PS4 will outsell the WiiU or the next Xbox.

"PS4 has specifications that the NextBox can only dream they could match. Most consumers will want PS4 as it is the best system and has the best games"

Really... Without knowing the next Xbox specifications / games / features you are able to lay this down...
You are obviously very biased :)
