I think xbox fans are going to be in for a big surprise. I know it's my group of friends, but they have all deiced to get the ps4 over the next box. that is 6 people i know personally switching sides. I think MS has just pushed their customers to much, Flip flopping between core and casual, RROD, MS points, Paid online accesses and peripherals. There is only so much you can Nickle and dime your customers before they start looking some where else. Any ground they have gained is going to be lost at the start of the new gen. Besides, America will switch sides in a heart beat.

Yeah I don't wanna say this is a trend though as some people have commited to MS in America already and they haven't even announced the thing yet.  Weird.  I don't know how a company can keep or build a good reputation after the last 3 years but it's happened.  Anywho I don't see Xbox slipping below 50m next gen simply because of the amount of people who will want to transfer their stuff from 360.  That isn't everyone though (as in some won't care) and people are more willing to switch than most seem to think.  The slate is wiped clean each gen (why people who say PS3 just survived on brand name are wrong I think).

I think it's going to be a bigger trend than many might expect. Even just playing Call of Duty online I've meet people who were gaming on 360 and switched sides mid gen, even they were hating on it. I really think MS has shot them self in the foot. Next gen is going to be interesting for sure. Well get a better idea on the 21st.

it'll certainly be tough to erase 3 years of bad rep with most gamers in the next couple months.  They've betrayed the trust of those core gamers and now it may come around.

It won't outsell both and it won't be the 1st most sold console. The console with the best hardware never wins, I guess after 8 generations of gaming consoles people would already know that.

Your saying the best hardware never wins like it's an universal rule. Your forgetting that it's Sony we are taking about. They have been dominating the console market for 2 decades lol. Sure they made some mistakes this gen which MS could capitalize on. Great for MS, but there is a reason why Sony has always been on top and managed to survive the current gen when everything was against them. Next gen they aren't going to make the same mistakes. They got the 3rd party support, the best exclusives, the best hardware (that developers can actually figure out) and no doubt a kickass online service that will be at least as good as what MS will come up with.

For a game company that has been "dominating" the last 2 decades, you'd think they wouldn't have taken so many losses, i mean, at the very least you'd think they would have made at least a little more money than their direct competitor(Nintendo), but no.  In fact sony only made more money in 2 of those years, that's weird, cus you just said they had been dominating, I guess I misread what you said.

This is pretty much my story as well. I made 360 my primary console this gen many years ago seeing as how they were the pioneers of online even though you had to pay. But for the last three or so years, MS has been consistently taking a dump all over my face for being a core gamer while I watched Sony gamers being treated like kings. It just kept building up and up until I finally got a PS3 and I was like wtf have I been doing all this time on Xbox when PS3 does everything and more. So yeah, you can only treat your consumers horribly for so long until they finally give you the boot.

I know thats just me and the market is very big, but I definitely do think that the 360 became as big as it is by pretty much riding on the coat tails of Sony's failures. Everything Sony did wrong, MS did right at the beggining of this gen and so the built up their fanbase. I think MS have now started to make the same mistakes Sony has been making and Sony have learned from their mistakes going into next gen. So I think at the end of the day PS4 will have the best chance of winning this gen.

I see things turning out very similar next gen, as it did this gen,

wiiU 80+ million(It will take twice as long to get to those numbers as the wii did though)
720 70+ million
ps4 70+ million
after 7-8 years,
oh, and if the steambox is released soonish,
steambox 90+ million, but only if they release a bunch of stuff that has the number "3" at the end of it.

Well, it is like an universal rule. Not once in gaming history the most powerful hardware won the generation. I'm just going by gaming logic here.

Sony has the momentum but it depends on the price of the ps4 and 720. i can see the Wii u making a comeback at the end of the year. My bet that the ps4 will get first place, with 720 and wii u close by . I don't think we will see a console totally dominate the competition this time around.

do you guys even know the price?
