Forums - Nintendo - NA numbers for the week ending 26th January.

Well, Wii HW numbers have  returned to above 120K levels, which i actually found quite surprising. Sure, the amount of Wii moved in the last two weeks seemed a tad low, but i didn't think that 145k would be the case for this week either. Apparantly Nintendo must have solved the post christmas shortage that NA had been facing for two weeks.

My question is: can we attribute this growth in sales to any other reason than just Wii madness in the US? Maybe NMH helped with the numbers (okay, i know that this one is meh, but you get the point)? And finally, if sales stay at this level for normal weeks, how much of an increase do we expect to occur during SSBB, MArio Kart Wii etc weeks? Discuss.

P.S.I think that W29 and DmeisterJ should be eating crow right about now, concerning their last week posts about NA Wii hardware sales.

i guess whipments are arriving by boat again.

However, if you look at ww sales this week, they will be around 350K. Meaning 1.4 million per month. where is the other 400K of the 1.8 million monthly production?

If i were Nintendo, i'd stock up from today. Let's count 12*400=4800. Almost 5 million. Now, let's count the amount of Wii's sold during the time period 17 November-31 december: 5 435 000 Wii's sold. Now, if we Subtract the 1,8 million for December and 900k for November (since i'm counting from the middle of November) we get 2,7 million Wii extra And we know that There was a massive shortage of Wii's in the US at the time. Even the week just before christmas with the total of 1,4 million Wii's sold didn't satisfy customers.

What does that mean? That Nintendo is making sure that this year they will be able to satisfy all customers around the globe.

I see they are still selling out in NA. Time for some careful shipment adjustment.

If anything, resources ought to be taken from Asia and reallocated to both Europe and NA, since I doubt the Japanese consumers ever had problems locating Wiis in the store.

Already sold in december do to air shipping.  Boat shipping takes a few weeks.  Hence those produced in december meant in January actually came in December.

OK... Let's try a ratio of say, 3:4.5:2.5 between Asia, NA and Europe. NA is still the world's biggest market for video games.

I live in the UK, so I won't be seeing those games for a looong time.
