There are three types of lies -- lies, damned lies, and statistics. The figures cited herein demonstrate that.

There is no console for everyone. But it is highly doubtful that someone who is a new user and attracted to the Wii will go on to the PS3 and 360 ... at least in the short-term.

The Wii is getting older buyers and younger buyers. The only group that it does not highly appeal to are males 15-24. Children, females and older buyers all tend to like the system.

So the graduation ceremonies will be few and far between.

Just my thoughts.

According to Nintendo on the GameCube 62% of users were aged below 18, while stating Playstation mainly had adult users. With the GameCube enjoying no software support for quite a while is it wrong to assume many GameCube users turned towards the Nintendo Wii to play games like Mario Galaxy and Wii Sports?

PS3 vs 360 sales

This title helps proves Microsoft's idiocy and failure at Windows lol *cough Vista cough*

It seems to me Wii fans are quick to be offended when there is a hint the Wii is a kiddie game system. (even PS3 has some kiddie games) Well guess what ? That's exactly what it is and one reason why the Wii has taken the lead. Disney has made a lot money by being kiddie also. Just go to Disney world and see all the adults there. As Mickey Mouse is to Disney so is Mario to Nintendo.

The kiddie (or casual) image also had a lot to do with a lot of the PS2 sales also - with titles like Singstar, Eye Toy last gen.

I personally dont agree with it - just cos it's also popular amongst kids doesn't give it a kiddie image, it's also the only console my parents, my brother and my in laws also own.

Wii is probably set up in more households living rooms than any other console this or last gen - not tucked away in kids bedrooms. The Wii is the new Atari - cant imagine my mam phoning me up to recommend a game but she did when Excite Trucks got released, she'll never buy a 360 though and I can safely bet my life on that one.

@Mike B: I don't see how your reply really relates to what Mike in TV posted.
You're trying to prove a point which doesn't exist? So since 62% of GC owners were under 18 and they have moved to Wii, 62% of Wii owners are under 18? Obviously Gamecube owners haven't grown older, which isn't true and therefore is too bad, since i'd like to be still 23 or 24.
Most people tend to jump ship, or more likely they don't, because they just follow the games, and therefore never were on board, so some GC owners have switced to 360/PS3, some XB owners have switched to Wii/PS3 and some PS2 owners to Wii/360. So the userbase have mixed from what it was last gen. PS2 had the most kids as gamers and obviously Wii is getting the PS2:s userbase, with the difference that it appeals more to the more older audience.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

@ bdbdbd

IMO kids and females are much better represented amongst the Wii userbase, than amongst the 360 and especially the PS3 userbase. This has a lot to do with entry price, Nintendo's kid friendly / orientated image and the type of games currently available.

I applaud this, I love the fact more females get into gaming and Nintendo publishes many games parents would find themselves conformtable with for their kids to play. I don't think neither the 360 or PS3 at this point serves these consumers well enough, only the PS2 seems like a good alternative at this point.

Microsoft is jealous, I say, Microsoft make software, no consoles

For me, it's not about "kiddie"...I stopped caring about that a long time ago...it's about the idiotic suggestion that the new gamers will "graduate" to Xbox 360.  That's what the guy seems to imply, and he's dead wrong....well, not dead wrong, just 99% dead wrong.

When the new gamers "graduate" it will be to a system that serves them better than Wii does.  That is not 360...360 has better graphcis and a higher number of complicated games than Wii, but it's missing every feature that makes the Wii a great product for new gamers - most notably the Wiimote, but also the price, the size, the design and the user interface.
