Thats perfectly fine, but it has multiple outlets and the news speaks about it and much  more. I posted reports from CNN about it so I does get the attention it deserves. The problem at hand is I think some gamers dont think very much about it or prefer other conventions that are smaller, yet still prop them up above E3.

But they are still having a conference for the media so wont CNN and other non gaming news sources still report on it? Maybe not as much attention as PS4 and the new Xbox but new consoles will always be the most talked about aspect of E3.

New consoles are being unveiled and no one knows what they look like. The press will be ready for E3. My local news was talking about the new Xbox.

Thats what i mean, Nintendo has no reason to go all out on a big press conference since they dont have new hardware to show and hardware will always get the most attention. They will still have a small conference for press/media and will show off all the games they have coming in the next year. Gaming sites and the news will still mention the big Nintendo games on the way.

For example the local news might have a few minute segment on E3 and talk about PS4/Xbox and then at end say also Nintendo showed off the sequels to some of the best selling games of all time: Wii Sports U and Mario Kart U, and show off a few seconds of gameplay footage.

Nintendo needs to stand tall and represent their brand as one of the big three on the biggest stage of gaming instead of hiding in front of their gamers. They will have given in to the opposite marketing the Wii had granting them less buyers. They are already selling less than the 360 and PS3 they dont need to add fuel to that fire.

Secondly, the news doesn't give a crap abot Nintendos exclusives unless they are a gimmick or unless the games have cause pandemonium like Halo. Halo started the midnight release trend that would cause the news to wrap around. In retrospect, its funny how Sony and Microsoft have brought a elements of wow factor and credibility to the gaming industry where elsewhere it was ignored. Sony brought anticipation for consoles to the forefront after the PSX people actually started waiting for console launches and Microsoft brought Halo midnight releases.

If you can cause pandemonium the news will come. With Sony and Microsoft involved in the gaming industry there will be a lot of noise. If it was just Nintendo no offense but i can understand why the news would shut up unless a console is launching.

Idk what you mean by hide in front of there games, what else would they show off at a gaming event?

But who knows tho, Nintendo might show a game that takes advantage of the gamepad in a way that Wii Sports was for motion controls and if that happens im sure it will get plenty of press. We just have a little more than a month til we get answers and see if this strategy is good or bad.

Well thats kind of the point isnt it? Nintendo makes their consoles so unorthodox that it throws developer creativity for what they've got to create for themelves and their publishers. If someone is going to show the world how to use their console, who better than Nintendo? You're right though, we will see how the strategy goes.

Repost from the locked thread.

They have nothing to show at E3... just it.

And anything that they show will be obfuscated by PS4 and Nextbox.

Repost from locked thread.

3D Mario, Mario Kart, X, Yoshi Yarn, Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Shin Megami x Fire Emblem, Retro Studios game....yeah they definitely don't have anything to show at E3.

Anything to make competition in E3 over  Nextbox/PS4? Sorry but it is nothing comparared to what Sony and Microsoft will show... so Nintendo just decided to left the main stage... next year they will make a standard E3 conference again.

New post but similar from the other thread.

Kinda like how the ps3 failed against the Wii right?

Sony would kill to have a franchise close to one of Nintendo's top 5.

I really didn't understand this comments in reply to mine

While you may have a point, I have also noticed that historically, announcements of home consoles at E3 underwhelmed at best and the older opposing console often shows it's sheer brilliance and demonstrates why they should buy it over the new competitor.

I'm not saying that would have been the case, but it could have been a chance for Nintendo.

I think for that happen Nintendo needs a strong and biggest software announces to try to make a conference on pair with all the news coming for Sony and Microsot (MS will show almost everthing in the E3)... and I think Nintendo didn't have that strong library to show at E3... if anything show that is the lack of the  main Nintendo conference at the show this year.

People here are trying to say Nintendo will make small annouces while the E3 occurs but this happen every year... the difference this year is Nintendo didn't have majos announces.

Next year Nintendo will show again news in a E3 conference for sure.

"Unlike previous years, we will not have a large-scale [E3] presentation directed to everyone in the world. Instead, we are planning several smaller events focusing on software for America. Among these hands-on events will be one for American distributors and another for western media."

I thought this is what many people wanted? For Nintendo to stop looking inward at the Japanese market and work more closely with its counterparts in North America.

Also, I don't see what the big deal is about holding a smaller, more intimate press conference. It's not like that fact will stop the news from getting out, or somehow prevent the games from arriving in stores.

E3 was always focused in America makert.

U sure about that? E3 is mostly paid attention to by gamers and I know its on spike tv but that channel is the dude bro channel who are likely gamers already. The news will of course report about PS4/Xbox but they will also talk about the game Nintendo shows off

Not directly... casuals will not watch or go to E3 but all the casual media press (I mean casual newspapers and magazines like The New York Time, Rolling Stones, etc)... I mean casual press that my dad read at breakfest... all theses press will conver the E3 biggest announces for weeks or months (I can even say the Microsoft NextBox will be featured in the covers of these casual press).

I think that.
