I noticed that a good chunck of kickstarter games are coming to the Wii U. I guess this is because is very cheap to make and the whole Unity relationship with Nintendo. There's also the rumor that Nintendo have been giving away free dev kits to small developers.

Really good news if this trend continues.

True that indie games are great to have but Wii U is still behind Linux in terms of indie support.

What does Linux has to do with with this? Going by Ubuntu only, the install base is around 20 million (2011). In 2009 it was 13 million, by this time Linux (specifically Ubuntu) already had a bigger install base than the Wii U currently has, so of course is going to have more indie support.

A thread isn't official until someone sticks their head in and compares a console to a PC. We got our mandatory pointless comparison now, so we're good.

The point was that the third most popular PC operating system behind Windows & OSX, that has been a joke when it comes to gaming is still getting more support then a new Nintendo console which is designed for games.

And you still haven't answered or acknowledged any of the bolded comment above. Your post is so far from the OT of the thread that you would have been better off saying you replied to the wrong one by accident.

Alright, so you're hung up on install base.

1-Linux is a free opperating system used by a very wide sub section of computer users, some use web, some code, some use it as an entertianment center but only a fraction use it to play games, I'd go as far as to say the minority of Linux users use their Linux machines for gaming.

2-The Wii U is a gaming system that sells itself first & formost as a gaming system, 99% of the Wii U's audience are gamers who bought the Wii U for games, showing they are active gamers with money to spend on games.

When you consider these two points the install base arguement looses weight.  So to address your question "What does Linux has to do with with this?", Linux has virtually every indie game the Wii U has plus many more, so if indie games are your thing the Wii U isn't the best place to go for your indie game fix, in fact Wii U is not only the number three game console for indie games right now considering price & selection, it's also outdone by the PC by three different OS's (Windows, OSX, Linux).  What this means is that these indie games won't move Wii U units since the games can be purchased in five other home formats, one of which you most surely already own.  As I said the games are great to have on the Wii U, but the Wii U isn't going to compete with Linux (or any of the others) in terms of selection & support.  The Wii U needs exclusives to move systems, not multiplatform indie games which are available in five other formats, linux being the one directly above the Wii U which is why I mentioned Linux.
