Forums - Sony - Ratchet and Clank Movie Announcement!

And with this comes the possibility of ruining my childhood.

"Insomniac is honored to play a hands-on role with the film's production, screenplay, character development and animation consulting.  Furthermore, our own Ratchet & Clank writer, T.J. Fixman, who has written all of the recent Ratchet & Clank games, is writing the script for the film as well"

(Todd Fixman wrote for Tools of Destruction & A Crack in Time, arguably the two best games in the series.  As well as All 4 One & Q-Force, but there was nothing wrong with the scripts in those games - they had other problems).

So yeah, I think the comparisons to the things I expect you're comparing them too are probably a little premature.  Unless you live in fear of your childhood being ruined every time anything gets announced in any series that you played as a child.

Sony is really reading my mind as of late. Whew!
I have been thinking a lot ever since the announcement of Invizimals TV series.

Anyway, It should have been years ago although it's better late than never.. I always see Ratchet & Clank has the most Marketing Value out of the three (Talking about Sly and Jak). I was really surprise that they aren't utilizing it.

I hope a Vita title or PS4 one.

It may sound bizzare, but I'm more concerned about the story. I love the Ratchet and Clank series, because there's a lot of mystery behind the characters. Removing that mystery would be a big disappointment for me.

TBH, I'd rather have a new game.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I do expect a game to come out around that time, but it woukd most likely be a movie tie-in.

And a Heavenly Sword Movie:

The PS5 Exists.

AWESOME! Why doesn't Sony do more movies about their franchises?

That would be the whole point?

RaC games are good but not enough people know about them. A great way to get people interested in the characters is to release a good movie.

The game will obviously be of a similar quality as the previous main entries (not talking about the last two).

Its a good way to get people interested in the series and create a good movie franchise!  Dumbing down the game won't make much sense at all.

Edit: In fact i think this is brilliant! I've always been a massive fan of Kung Fuu Panda, like seriously a massive fan. But not once did i consider buying the games. Not once. I knew about them but i also knew they were movie tie in games with no real depth. Getting gamers like me interested in the characters, story and universe is a great way to sell the game. And gamers know that RaC games are not tie ins, so they will buy them. Casuals will buy them irrespective. Its a win win situation for Sony provided that the movie has the desired effect.

Reported for being off topic.

Anyways - Rainmaker is developing the R&C movie....and I'm not sure if that is a good thing after looking at their history and the majority of "films" they made >.>...

"From the people who brought you Spider-Man, The Nutty Professor, *cough*Barbie and*cough* The Three Musketeers and Stuart Little *cough*3*cough*"

What is wrong with that? It isn't like these guys are going to be doing the writing, they are about animations.

I didn't like the comedy behind the teaser. R&C can do better comedy than this but hey, this is just a teaser.

This could be great if done properly and released at the proper time, evading Pixar and Dreamworks releases as if they were the plague, just in case. Sony  their mascots recognized.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Teaser was hilarious, expecting a lot from the movie.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
