I liked the second one, relatively.

I think I'll just make my own Wii U add, send it to Nintendo in a letter, and see it on TV a few days later.

Cmon guys! These commercials are cute and I feel like they will attract the family demographic.

However, they stated this system would catch the core gamer as well, and I'm looking at this with Nintendo Goggles on. If I wasn't I'd be pretty annoyed at the lack of content shown other than Nintendo Land and Mario U and Lego City Undercover (there was a poster of Most Wanted in the background!)

They need to make a dark, gritty commercial with games like ZombiU, Mass Effect, Batman and Ninja Gaiden at the forefront... and better yet they need to release new core games so that they can actually showcase games from the new generation as opposed to ports from the current generation of consoles.

to be fair these ads suck bad bad bad, but we are not the target. Nintendo knows we gamers are going to buy it when the next smash game or zelda comes out. they don't want to invest in tv ads for us when we spend our time on the internet . They want the wii casuals to understand the difference and buy it.
but yeah they suck....

The commercials are extremely bad. But like other users have said, these type of commercial are not for us 'core' gamers, they are for the casuals. Whether they help or not I don't really know, most likely not though.

I actaully think the ads are OK for the market they are targeting, which isn't me. But they would do much better if they just made ads that made the product seem really cool, like apple does. Then they wouldn't need ads like this. They really need to fire their firm, or whoever is responsible for the WiiU advertising. What's strange is that Wii advertising was great, and so are the 3DS ads with Penelope Cruz.
