Lol, I doubt there would be any devs that could handle development on such a level and maintain a successful business model without going under.

Except most devs actually develop with that level of detail, they scale their work down.

Most devs actually develop their games to match reality? Well, color me surprised.

That remains to be seen.

If true, why don't we see this in movies, given that they can be rendered as slow as you like?

Hence my use of the word 'doubt'.

I meant Avatar quality graphics, not real life. I missed the mark on what Cheebee was saying. Like the normal maps that make up characters are normally based off of high resolution models. For instance, Metal Gear Solid 4, Snake's model is 10k polygons. The normal they use for it is based off a model with 400k polygons and that's the model that's smoking during installs.

Not necessarily. You and I have no way of knowing how much thats going to cost. Epic is in the buisness of making game creation easier faster and more efficent. Could end up super expensive or not. But I really doubt it will cost 100-200 Billion Dollars to make a game like that.
That comment will definitely be laughed at in years to come. You won't need anything near that as I imagine he isn't taking into account new methods of replicating reality.
