I got into the trading card game some six months back, and me and a friend group basically play daily. It's crazy. It's to the point where we play during school, and have gotten some random nerdy kids into the game too.  

So now I'm curious if it's big among video gamers as well. It's got to be. So do any of y'all Magic? Do you belieeeve in it?

I currently only play casually myself, but a couple of my friends want to go into actual torunaments and the like, and are designing competitive decks.

I play it a few times with my friends in my break. It's pretty fun until I get stomped by people who go out and buy cards every other day.

I played the video games... the first one from Micropose was AWESOME. The only issue was that it was sorta broken... with all the "Protection from white" etc...

The later Magic games are better balanced but i greatly miss the deck building options.


As for paying real money for cards? Just can't do it.

Funny thing is.. i probably would pay a bunch of money for cards on magic online... if there was a way to earn cards for free.... but there isn't so i don't play it.

I played casually for years, but my boyfriend played it competitively at local tournaments and whatnot. He is quite good at the game, or at least I would assume so as he would win pretty much every tournament he entered. He doesn't play as much anymore but he still stays up to date on the game and knows what all the best decks are and all the strategies and whatnot. It's a really fun game.

Y'know, I think you actually manage to break even if you buy a crap-ton of cards. I bought a $4 dollars booster pack, drew a $15 dollar card out of it, and sold it to our local game shop. 

I did trade the money for more cards, but whatever. You could make money. 

I've never played it, though I have a couple of the little decks from going to PAX East. Actually, I was shocked at how many people at PAX were playing. The card section was as big as the videogame section.
