But there is quite a difference between what the gaming community is thinking/talking about and what is really going on. The PS3 never did lag behind X360 too much, and it consistently was closing in on that gap - but not in a sudden surge in sales, but by consistently selling more units. That's not a comeback. That's a steady flow in sales.

Console partisans are relatively clueless (Worse than Pachter actually, who is really not good in his own right), so when you contrast reality to what they say, you end up look good.  You can make about anything a flop or having an epic comeback, depending on what group of partisans you use to justify your point by contrasting with them.

And what is meant by "comeback"?  The Playstation brand was DOMINANT, so a comeback would of been first place.  As it is now, it may hit second place, but first play is very likely out of question.  The Vita and PSP (portable consoles under the Playstation brand) never really have done anything either.  Sony is no longer top dog, and thus, has not made a comeback.   If anything, Nintendo made a comeback with the Wii, but that looks like it may be gone also.

I was going to post this in here as a comment.  However, it was too long and took to much time for me to look up the numbers for me to not make it its own thread.  Besides, it counters some of the negativity.

2nd, the word comeback wouldn't make sense in the 360's context, because it never "fell" and then came back like from from PS2 to PS3. It just went from shitty to good. That's not a comeback.

Nope... PS3 sales are selling below X360 in 2008 and 2009 until the PS3 Slim cameback happened... the gap was near 8 million before the Slim and now it is less than 1 milliom... PS3 has even a chance today to ends this generation over the Wii... that what I call a COMEBACK.

Quote me later... PS3 will be the best selling console this generation... 25 million to go.
