I'm disappointed there are no N64 games there at launch. Hopefully Nintendo won't be shy about making them more available this time, with the Wii U having far more memory on board. Don't skimp on the GC games either. And if Nintendo could make a deal with Sega to get Saturn and Dreamcast games...

Plus it is kind of overload. Several thousand titles all at once, and that is before considering liscensing rights, etc, plus registering them with each region's rating board. As long as they can release one or two a week it should be fine.

No, it needs to be 5-10 a week.

While there is still some work to do, having only a couple a week would be pathetic and draw out a needless process. Once the primary common code is done, it should be relatively easy for a small team to knock out 5-10 a week.

Seems like Nintendo is not pursuing licensing for other consoles this time around. But GBA and N64 should be here before year is out.

I would be happy if they bring one game each week ...
but I think reality is more like 1 or 2 games a month if we are lucky ...

They were pretty good about adding games weekly on the Wii for the first few years...
Virtual Console titles on the 3DS eShop, however, have been less than consistent...
I hope that won't be the case with the Wii U...
I won't mind such a tiny launch selection if the games come at a decent rate...

Have a nice day...

3DS is an exception as the hardware is less than Wii and the emulation is likely harder.

However, Wii U should be a simplier setup and it needs the content. I could see a team handling Wii U VC 2x that of 3DSs just to hurry up and catch-up with at least Nintendo first party content with the occasional licensing agreement defined 3rd party title.

Hopefully, Nintendo just wants to roll out some simple first party games to get the ball rolling. Neo-Geo titles weren't availble for Wii initially, but Nintendo announced it's support months after launch. I think the same might have been the case for 3DO support?

Actually, at E3 when VC was first disclosed they stated the many other consoles beyond Nintendo that would join the store. Including specifically naming those like the Genesis and so on.

This time, Nintendo has only mentioned its consoles with the only new addition being GBA and that's likely due to it being on 3DS already so the emulator work is being complete. Just needed to port to WiiU hardware.

The games are showing up in eShop, just can't buy yet.

Gonna be probably available right after the update, maybe not even having to wait until tomorrow.

Well, yesterday's update has come and gone and hopefully by now you all have loved the far better experience and options that game with it.

Today is Virtual Console day and sometime likely this afternoon we should have are newest options to play some old school games... again. :)
