Even as a Microsoft fanboy I can admit Zelda is bigger.

Both medium franchises.

But today Fable > Zelda in sales but Zelda is bigger in name.

Zelda was never a huge seller franchise BTW... it is a niche game like Metroid.

Fable 2 & 3 sold that well due to mass bundling. I remember Fable 3 adding around 1.5 million during its xmas holidays bundle with Halo: Reach (digital). The main Fable trilogy would average around 2.5-3.5m per game without bundling, which is great. Zelda is a bigger series though, that said it seems to be losing popularity since 2006 with every game selling less and less (yes, I'm including handheld).

Good points. Yeah Fable bigger numbers may be due to bundling, but it is common practice of this generations. Say anything about bundles to sony fans and see their reactions.
But Zelda also losing it fanbase through years. You cant ignore this fact. If it have such big following, why nobody buying it?

Also, most of the thread - Zelda bigger, because, you know, it is Zelda. Well when, why only 3.5m on Z:SS and Z:OoT (3DS)?

I'm going to channel the spirit of Khuutra, and in lieu of burning your face off with a death glare as he would have, explain that Zelda, historically, has gone through zeniths and nadirs of popularity. Skyward Sword is simply a downswing game, but there will also be future upswing games, whereas Fable is pretty clearly going in one direction.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Major Zelda realese in 5 years. If you dont buy it - no Zelda in 10 years. How you can be a fan after that?

Lots of people missing the fact that SS required Wii Motion+ and Fable 3 was bundled.

Niche game? A game not for everyone... Mario is for everyone... Metroid and Zelda are for fans... it is like StarFox, LittleBigPlanet, Killzone, Forza and others 2-4M franchises.

PS. I'm a Zelda fan... I belive Ocarine of Time is the best Zelda of all time and one of the best games ever created.
