Forums - Gaming - The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile dev defends Microsoft

I'm sure a number of developers have had a good time and bad time working with Microsoft. But the bottom line is it's business, Microsoft isn't trying to make friends with every developer it encounters. I'm sure both MS and Indies would like to have a good relationship but overall their focus is trying to flip a profit.

People say MS is horrible to indie studios, yet I see more indie studios working with MS over Sony and Nintendo. Go figure.

yea. they have more success on the xbox 360 platform than other (not counting steam), but they give MS a bad rap. I think its a few indies who just try to get in the news that casue a stir

Microsoft does have its own quirks that are annoying though.  I know the case of Farsight, who is doing Pinball Arcade, and STILL hasn't released 360 additional tables, because their publisher they had isin bankruptcy, and they are going through bankruptcy court hell to clear things up.  Without a publisher, Farsight can't get tables out.

With Nintendo, you have to sell X copies and  break a threshold, or you don't get a cent.  Not sure what is up with Sony though.

So apparently Zen Pinball rules pinball considering Faresight is bankrupt?

I remember The Dishwasher being one of the first few indie success stories this gen. I knew this guy would come out and talk some sense into people.

That Braid dev is simply a prick. He would never had have the attention if it wasn't for the XBL community and he is just bashing xbox now to get in bed with the PS3 fans after Sony brought the rights to his next game.

Show this to that pokoko guy. Anyway he is not really defending MS, he is just happy with MS.

Farsight didn't go bankrupt.  The issue is that I believe Crave was Farsight's publisher and Crave went bankrupt, so Pinball Arcade is now tied up in bankrupty court.  This is because Microsoft requires developers to be publishers or get published through publishers.  There is the Indie channel, which is an exception, but requires an Internet connection to at least start the game up.

How can you people not like this guy? ;_;

Ah I see now.  I was a little drunk last night so that didn't help either.  Well, the IP should be okay eventually.  Reminds me of Team 17 (THQ) and Worms.   I want Worms Armageddon on Wii U...  I believe they were going to put Pinball Arcade on Wii U or had plans to.
