Forums - Microsoft - Would you pay $99 for 360 BC on the 720?

Are you interested in "stingray?"

With the rumored $99 stingray console being Microsoft's plan for 360 BC, are you happy? Personally it's great since I'll be able to have it plugged in to my 720 when I want to do 360 games yet a few years from now I can put it in a box out of sight or in another room as a Roku.

I have a day one launch 360 so this would also be great if that system breaks.

How about you?

Seems like a better option than the "always online" backwards compatibility that PS4 is aiming for with Gaikai.

Lulz.

$99 for BC on the 720? Sure. If that's the way I can get all my gamerscore/XBLA titles to carry over along with the disc based games? I'm all for it. Or they can just add it in to the $400 price. I'm willing to pay $500 for a fully backwards xbox with all the frills.

It's just that simple.

The rumor is that this stingray system has no disc drive and only does digital games. By plugging it in/attaching it to the 720, the 720 controls it and sends it data from the disc drive. Then the stingray sends the image back. It will be practically the same as having the feature inside a 720.

It's a good idea, 360 has a great library on XBLA and there's still life in the platform outside of future AAA titles. Newcomers who want durango probably have little interest in paying for BC, conversely 360 is cheap and suitable for folks who want casual games and media. User-pays keeps the price down, which I liked about the 360 with stuff like Wifi; something I don't want to pay for so I don't pay for it.

No, too much when I can just plug in my 360 lol.

Ya why pay more to play X360 games on NextXbox when you still have X360 with you?

unless play them on NextXbox will improve X360 games graphics and loading speed then can consider...

same case for why pay additional money to play PS3 games on PS4 if there isn't any improvement

Without an Xbox 3 this new 360 is just a services and cloud gaming machine right? No disk drive, maybe no HDD either (not sure if that was confirmed). So unless you have a good internet connection the device itself isn't worth having and we don't know when it is coming out or when those cloud features will be available, but as for an attachment to the Xbox 3 it is pretty cool because it allows for disk, and I hope digital, playback.

Funny it is almost exactly like the PS4's PS3 dongle that would allow playback. Maybe that still exists too, but if it is priced at $99 and not $149 it is a pretty good deal and keeps the cost of the new system down. I still think that people should just keep their current systems instead of bothering with these things, but maybe the saved space, one hdmi, and the cost of selling might justify it.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I really like the idea. I won't get one initially, but knowing that if my 360 eventually dies that I will have an option to play the old games if desired is nice. It is also great that I won't have to have that cost needlessly added to my initial new xbox if I don't need BC. I only hope this rumor is true and that all the nasty rumors of the past are false. I guess we will know soon enough.

Seems like some are willing to throw down $99 while others bitched about having to spend about a hour to transfer from Wii-Wii U (less time if you have less VC and WW titles which a majority of people have less than me).
