Forums - Nintendo - WiiU: any original 3rd party Japanese game?

I realised I can't think of one Japanese 3rd party game for WiiU that's not a port, released or announced. That's pretty devastating if true.

Are there any? Not even a couple? If not, what the hell happened?

Right now there is much more Western support than Japanese, especially from Ubisoft. There are actually quite a few titles coming for the console and I think it'll do very well these holidays with a price cut and a couple of important titles.

But still, one has to wonder where the Japanese developers are.

Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Dragon Quest X, Resident Evil Revelations.

the Jap devs are busy with 3DS,Vita,PSP and PS3... Nintendo are going to have to carry themselves AGAIN at this rate (not that that bothers me, but more 3rd party support would be nice)

@Lilchicken22 thats 2 Nintendo published games and 2 ports. not very impressive

Japanese are all on handhelds now.

8th gen won't be seeing much of them on consoles.

Lol who cares if it are games Nintendo publishing? So you prefer multiplatformgames instead of exclusives made by third party? Platinum Games is a third party company, not second party.

If it's financed or published by Nintendo it's a 2nd party game. E.g.: Heavy Rain is a 2nd party game. Regardless of QD being "3rd party".

In any case, semantics aside, it still means no 3rd party Japanese developer is willing to develop a game for WiiU with its own resources, from what we know so far.

Here's one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_Party:_30_Great_Games_Obstacle_Arcade

'Borderline unplayable', but it still counts!

Japanese third party titles will release in Q3 of Nintendo's Fiscal Year (Oct-Dec). Japanese developers are currently concentrating most of their efforts in the handheld space. Furthermore, they are waiting for the install base to grow and by Q3, once should expect their titles to be released. As Iwata said, there are games unannounced that will be released by year-end that have not been unveiled.
