Forums - Website Topics - Problems with my 'game collection'

So I went to add some games to my 'game collection' on my profile, but found some are missing or I can only pick: wish list or track. Is that part of the website not being updated anymore or am I the only one with this problem. If this has been talked about before I missed it. Just wondering whats going on.

I think it's something that is being worked on but will take time to finish. I only added a few favorites and gave up. If it ever gets finished I might do it, but I have too many games in real life to bother added them all one by one to an online brag list. I treat it more like a "these are the games that represent me" list

Ah ok thanks. Same for me for the most part.

ioi (the creator of this website) is removing all game collection functionality on VGChartz as he wants us to migrate to an other webstie of his, which has an inferior games database. Many of us are upset about this but ioi doesn't care.

How is the game database on Gamewise inferior?

The actual version - we have developed a new gaming site that focuses more on games (new, retro, casual, core) and allows users to add deep information to each game (like you would on a wiki) covering characters, levels, items and so on. The Gamewise database is far beyond what we used to have on VGChartz.

As part of the Gamewise experience, a major focus will be on building game collections and showing them off via widgets, forum signatures and so on. This is still being fleshed out now and will be live in a few months. With this in mind, we are no longer updating or focusing on these features on VGChartz (and they will eventually be phased out) but you will be able to link back to your Gamewise collections via the aforementioned widgets once they go live.

I really hope you will make it possible to migrate all of our VGchartz games to the other site. I mean I am certainly not going to add 400+ games to another site again.

Why you need 2 sites for all this is still beyond me.

track the game you want to add. then after you track it you can go to my games and add them.

It is inferior because there is no way to:

1) specify which version of the game you have, and therefore to
2) sort your collection filtered by gamesystem (ie no way to view your SNES collection, your PS2 collection)
3) specify if you completed the game
4) specify if you're currently playing the game
5) put games on a wishlist (not sure about this one.. if this is possible I just might make a GameWise account because this is the most important feature for me).

I'm also not a fan of the rating system (5 point scale instead of 10 point scale).

Although I must say Gamewise's aethetic design is great, looks much better than VGChartz.

Feature pretty much going away it seems.

That's why I just created a google doc. See my sig. Its easily publishable and anonymous too.

Those things are all coming as I've said before. When it is finished, the Gamewise game collections will be far superior to what we had on VGChartz.

Not to blast yoru work or gamewise... but do you have a UX expert or tester? I find Gamewise to be confusing and not flow well. Kinda why I haven't done anything there. Everytime I've tried, based on your posts, I get lost or irritated with its process and percieved limited access.

As a web developer myself, I create a lot of internal web apps that all have to be usuable with no training. Just my two cents.
