I dunno. Just guessing to facilitate such a price cut. Maybe cut it down to just wifi and one HDMI slot. No usb slots or ethernet port. Parts stripped down so this thing is only the size of a few DVD boxes stacked on top of eachother.

Upgradeable flash memory or external harddrive support? Who knows. Plenty ways to go about it.

$99 is definitely tempting and I might grab one for that price so I can take advantage of the great titles on XBLA.

Good, my work horse 360 sees the red ring of death every other day, yet never dies. I would love to replace it for next to nothing. It is a shame Sony can probably not do the same soon.

Hopefully sony follows suit with a PS3 price drop. The thing is still terribly expensive for an end-of generation system.

A $99 Xbox no strings attached would be brilliant.

Would grab the halo series, Forza and a couple other exclusives.

However what could they strip out to reach such a price point?, what is current xbox 360 US price?

For 99$ I would buy another 360 and sell my ps3. Come on, do it MS!

$199 for the Arcade with 4GB Flash memory. It was as low as $180 MSRP for the holidays, and $130-$150 thru Black Friday. Also was $199 with Skylanders at Wal-Mart for a white version. Either way $99 is a huge drop, and I doubt MS is profiting $80+ off each console right now so this rumor does boggle my mind. That's why I'm figuring maybe $130-$150, which is still really cheap either way.

The $299/399 Kinect bundles and the 299 250gb 360 is where most of the profits come from. And if they were all slashed by even $100 each they would still eek out a small profit id think.

I wonder is the ps3 has a same price drop, what the codename will be. Maybe Panther would seem cool.
