Forums - Microsoft - Paul Thurrott weighed in on the NeXtbox rumors shared some info from his sources

So the WiiU isn't going to be last place, Nintendo rejoice! Seriously though this just sounds awful. No BC, 500$, always online, a perfect storm of reasons for me not too buy the console.

To b e fair, the no BC and $500 are just guesses from him based on things MS are doing, though they could come true.  The online part is very worrying, though, as he states "requires online connection to operate" are in some of the things he has on the NeXbox.  This is different from the previous "always online" from other rumors.  Always online could just mean it retains an online connection while in low power mode.  Requires online means just that.  No online, no gaming.

$500? Microsoft is not that stupid. Sorry.

It's just that simple.

Well, the ps4 will more than likely $400-$500, so it's not that crazy really.

Actually, it is a pretty good plan, the 360 would have great legs, and a lot of late adopter would buy it, while the PS3 will probably be 199$ after the price drop. The new consoles will come probably above 400$, so 500 could be a good price, but we saw a 499$/599$ start price what meant for Sony... Yeah, it's too much.

I don't know. 350$ is the WiiU and I doubt they could go below that, and 499 for the PS3 was too much. Not too much room there.

It's exactly as the rumors stated. You should read beyond the titles fo these articles. Kotaku's article actually goes pretty in-depth.

I'm speaking out of pure speculation when I say that if it requires to be connected at all time then I wouldn't put it past Microsoft to team up with a cable/satellite provider to make this a Cable box/VG console/Home entertainment system. In that case, it would make logical sense for it to be connected & very likely that it will outsell the PS4.

The difference between $400 and $500 would negative, and the 360 did fine at $399.

You guys shouldn't get ahead of yourselves and think that with an announcement we will finally see if whether the Nextbox will need always online to play games. We may even need to wait a little longer than that if they decide not to talk about it during the reveal for strategic purposes. We may even find ourselves in the situation when we would need to wait some weeks to find out, depending on how Micro approaches the reveal and if the Nextbox indeed has the online requirement.

Just bringing this into consideration as to remind people that we may not know all Xbox details with a reveal. I mean, I've known of console reveals where they don't even show the freaking console.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Hell this would be good news to the Wii U as well :D

Ok, let us not get ahead of ourselves and take rushed decisions we may end up regretting on the long run. :P

What the hell are you doing getting banned Abbath?  Looks like my prediction last month that you would not live till the morning or something was wrong.

Anyway, yeah I honestly don't see them announcing if it requires to be online to use at their announcement or they will put a slight bit of info in and making seem like it's not a bad thing.  I think only if the rumors are false will they say something about it.
