I hate to break it to you all, but next generation now means PS5, X1440 and WiiXYZ.

Of the 7th gen consoles, 3 (60%) are dead. 

Of the 8th gen consoles, 3 (60%) have been released, another has been announced and the final one is due for an announcement next month according to rumour.

We are in the 8th gen, the use of "Next gen" to refer to the 8th gen is confusing and innacurate.

I use the term current gen term for ps3,xbox 360, and wii. Next gen is reserved for ps4, wii u, and durango.

When referring to home consoles, I'll likely keep saying "next gen" until the PS4 and 720 are launched. The true dividing point is the software and next gen multi-plats are waiting for Sony and Microsoft. That's just the way it is.

Last time it wasn't next gen until Sony said so, this time it won't be next gen until Microsoft says so.

we are at current gen with WiiU, 3DS and Vita. people mean the next gen home consoles and purposely ignore that the WiiU is a next gen console and lump it with last gens PS360

there is only one next gen console on the market, until all 3 release PS3 and xbox 360 will still be current gen.

It's simpler to say Next Gen because PS4 and durango haven't been released yet
