Forums - General - Nintendo of America welcomes Shaun Tempest as consulting director

REDMOND, Wash. Nintendo of America, Inc. announces the hiring of a new Consulting Director, Shaun Tempest, a PR expert with more than 20 years of experience in consumer electronics. Shaun comes to Nintendo from his position as a vice president at Tenyear Plan Limited in Texas, where he developed and executed consumer real-time change and contributed to the advancement of the firm's weak and strong points in relations.

Shaun will work from Nintendo's office in Redwood City, Calif, and will report to the Executive Vice President (Non-Games) of Sales & Marketing, Bruce Everiss, as well as to Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime.

"Shaun brings a wealth of smart, strategic brand experience to our team," Fils-Aime said. "As we prepare to launch our new Nintendo Wii system on April 27, his expertise will help keep our momentum from dropping off. To investors I say, it's not just a party machine, and we don't just sell Nintendo games on our systems - where are the third parties? Gamecube started well at first, too; we need Wii Fit to stop the brand being held together with duct tape.

Earlier in his career, Shaun ran public relations and HD adoption for Wordpress in Los Angeles, where he launched the umbrella brand Real Games for the 360 and PS3 systems. He also oversaw all external and internal communications for key titles VC Rom, Serious Online, and IOI Minigames.

Asked for comment, analyst Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan said, "Nintendo has in the past milked profit due to inferior hardware, and this was destroying the industry. The Wii Remote was a gimmick, it sold because it was cheap. Shaun understands that users may get bored of Wii Sports and this needs to be resolved within the next financial year. Abandoning the Wii hardcore now would show it's a fad."

Shaun is a graduate of Harvard Business School, where he earned bachelor's degrees in commentary and game-related aerodynamics.

It's supposed to be satire I think.  Although it kind of just goes off the walls and becomes hard to read at a point.

And so it begins.

Oh, right, it's after midnight in the United Kingdom

Happy Celtic New Year's everyone!
