I've grown to like him quite a lot from the moment where I got to read from his point of view (Storm of Swords), his character shows tremendous growth. Before that, he was just an evil Lannister to me.

I think the notion of good or evil being inherent traits of about 95% of the people in this world fall by the wayside. People have characteristics that define them and shape how they see the world and the world see them. I cannot say a single of the Lannisters is completely evil, even Tywin was shaped by his youth and his pride and emotional scars.

Yeah I agree... well apart from Joffrey... Joffrey is evil for the sake being evil.

Sometimes I forget the "Baratheon" children.
He is a sadist, but he is also a young spoiled entitled rich boy, ignored by his great powerful father and coddled by his mother who is suddenly handed immense power and can get away with stuff. The "evil" is there, but society and his situation have allowed it to flourish.
One only need and look at his sweet little brother Tommen who has nothing asked of him and has been groomed as a place holder. That kid just wants people to be happy and play with his kittens.
