He said that yesterday too lulz.

Why wouldn't they just go with UE3 instead?

Wouldn't it also be a safer bet to stay with UE3 anyway? It has been out for awhile longer.

Actually it would be a safer bet to steer clear of any versions of the Unreal Engine. The CryEngine is technically better, Crytek give better support and it's cheaper. All of the feedback I've heard personally from developers has been negative regarding Epic's support in particular.

The Wii U runs Crytek 3 at 100% and beautifully at that.

Yeap... I'm playing the Crysis 3 on Wii U and it is look beautiful... lol

Don't know why these comments have attracted so much attention, we have known every part of this since last July.

Glad to hear that Unreal Engine 4 will be as scalable as UE3. I'm sure if 3rd parties ask for Wii U support Epic will help. Right now it's not worth their effort, but they do want the UE to rule the world.

I really doubt epic will help.

Epic Games president Mark Rein now says that developers could create a game using Unreal Engine 4 and bring the product to Wii U. Rein also stated that developers could also bring Unreal Engine 4 games to the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. The downside to doing this is they wouldn’t look as spectacular as they would on the next Xbox or the PlayStation 4.

“You heard the stupid gaffe yesterday about the Wii U,” he said. “If someone wants to take Unreal Engine 4 and ship a game on Wii U, they can! If they wanna ship an Unreal Engine 4 game on Xbox 360, they could make it happen.” While that game might not look as pretty as it would on a “true” next-gen console, the new engine is scalable to a variety of platforms, including mobile.

Who knows. They might. If the Wii U gets in enough house holds and publishers want a piece of the action they will want to port their UE4 games. If enough publishers hassle Epic they would probably do it just to keep a good working relationship with their best clients.

But that's a big if.

Well played.

Wii U is next gen. It's the successor of the Wii

Western PC companies have never seen eye to eye with Nintendo. I don't really think they care how Nintendo gamers percieve them, but yeah it doesn't hurt to hope.

did you read what the vice president wrote of epic games, be baiscally laughed at the idea of unreal 4 running on wiiu, and said its not nextgen tech wise and shoulld stick with unreal 3, basically he's saying it would be a waste of time to support current gen with unreal 4 cause unreal 4 is for high specced consoles, while unreal 3 is for low specced systems.

"Hahaha no." Rein said, with expert comedic timing. The room erupted with laughter. As the laughs died down, Rein continued: "I mean, sorry, it's not really a correct answer. We're not… we have Unreal Engine 3 for the Wii U. Right? And Unreal Engine 3 is powering all kinds of amazing games, still lots of games are being made with Unreal Engine 3. We announced today about a new Unreal Engine 3 license. Unreal Engine 3 doesn't disappear because of Unreal Engine 4. But our goal for Unreal Engine 4 console-wise is next-gen consoles. That's really what our energies are focused on. If you want to make a Wii U game, we have Unreal Engine 3, and it's powering some of the best games on the Wii U already.
