"Hahaha no." - Ice cold.

Nintendoomination?
Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

They probably don't see it as financially viable, just as scaling down to PS360 isn't financially viable. They have UE3 for that. |
Yeah I guess Epic won't release tools for WiiU, so if developers want to make a game based on UE4 for WiiU they'd need to make the tools themselves and this would mean increased development costs so they probably won't even bother with that.
| pezus said: "Hahaha no." Rein said, with expert comedic timing. The room erupted with laughter. His response is bad, but what about the entire room of devs (/journalists too?) laughing with him? |
I don't buy that part, I'm not sure I buy the part of Rein laughing either. It is Kotaku, after all.

"But our goal for Unreal Engine 4 console-wise is next-gen consoles." No tablet, no old-gen... just next-gen consoles. |
They said the engine was scalale. There are games on phones that use UE 3, so I don't see any reason for this one not to be. Epic can do it, they just don't want to throw money in doing it.

It was an unprofessional response but Kotaku was just quoting so you can't fault them.
Square Enix
Ubisoft
Activision
2K
These are some of the publishers who have already purchased UE4 licenses. Ouch

I know they can but the focus now (and for one year or two ahead) is the next-gen consoles only... after that the other low dispositives... tablets and smartphones will use the UE3 for sure in the next years.

But aren't they just reporting what he said? Why is that terrible? |
Was the "Hahaha no" part necessary to say WiiU can't run UE4 ?
I'd expect from a serious gaming website to ignore this. But I know Kotaku isn't that.
