So based on that:

  Franchise Sales (Millions)
Platform No. Of titles Average sales per title
1 Halo 37.36 X360 5 7.47
2 Mario Kart 33.55 Wii 1 33.55
3 (2D)New Super Mario Bros 28.38 Wii/WiiU 2 14.19
4 Gears of War 18.4 X360 4 4.6
5 (3D)Super Mario Galaxy 17.77 Wii 2 8.89
6 God of War 17.09 PS2/Ps3 8 2.14
7 Uncharted 16.43 PS3 3 5.48
8 Forza 14.46 X360 6 2.89
9 Gran Turismo 12.94 PS3 2 6.47
10 Zelda 11.98 Wii 2 5.99

I don't know how representative the average is for the likes of God of War and Halo as they've both had remakes (quite a few in the case of God of War) and Ascension has only just come out (same for Gears and Judgement). Either way, an interesting way to look at it and would skew the table in Nintendo's favor if you arrange by "Average sales per title"

Idk if noone reads my posts or what lol but as I said earlier in my post if GT 4 is added it is at 24.3m and divided by 3 is 8.1m, Halo 2 also had sales in 2005 as well, adding another title to it. I just trying to make this thread more accurate, but some like to ignore it.

If someone can help me get the numbers for GT4 and Halo 2 from 2005 forward I will put it in there.  I dont know how to get the numbers for just 2005 on a specific title

I edited my post to help out with GT4. It had 4 days of sales in 2004 for just Japan only so you can assume at least 90% of the sales was in 2005. Halo 2 is much harder as it released in november but Japan shows at least 5k sales for it in 2005.

Well if it was just 4 days Ill just add the entire game.

@Scoobes I see why you put 4 for forza now.  I didnt realize Forza released in 2005.  As far as Halo 2 goes, I'll still need help with that.

It is impossible to find the numbers for those games. And i believe this thread is about games that been released only in 2005-present.

I don't think they released in 2005 though which makes it difficult to extrapolate the total sales that can be attributed from 2005 onwards.

Now you all are confusing me.  Am I counting GT4's numbers?  When did it release?

EDIT:  GT4 Released in Japan on december 28th 2004.  Febuary 22nd in NA and March 9th EUA 2005.  I'll count it

Well GT4 released in Japan 4 days before 2005. So the FW was within 2005. But putting that aside it released in EU and US in 2005 where 90% of its sales came from.

But anyways I thought this thread was counting sales for the core franchises since 2005. IE any game since Jan 1 2005 within the top franchises.

I do not really have Halo 2 numbers as it is nearly impossible to get real numbers. But it was less than 800000 for US and 5000 for Japan. It sold 5m 3 weeks before 2005 and sold around 8m LT. A guess from 1.2m-2m is a decent guess. I would just note that it did sell some, unless nobody cares. I seem to be the only one lol.

Hey jaywood do a handheld thread like this, then do both handhelds and home console! If you dont mind

I would but it wouldnt be interesting since all 10 will be nintendo.  The handheld market isnt as competitive.

Ill do a 3rd party one later though
