I don't think that Kojima has ever really cared for Nintendo.

Yeah, that's why Twin Snakes is a Nintendo exclusive.

That was 10 years ago and it wasn't even made by Kojima.

We were promised that the Wii U would get Japanese Dev Support?

Are you sure that you aren't confusing "Wii U" with "3DS"?

This seemed to be the big promise for Wii U owners, don't worry about Western 3rd party devs because Japanese devs will come through.

Well where are they? Where's Metal Gear Rising on Wii U (a game designed by a Wii U friendly studio)? Now I guess it was to be expected by MGSV left off the Wii U ... yeah predictable I guess, but still frustrating.

So basically we should be content with maybe a few scraps from Ubi Soft every 3-4 months and perphas a 360/PS3 port of Call of Duty. Whoopity doo.

Word is that you arren't even likely to get future Call of Duty titles either.  Pretty much third-party isn't going to support a console that deviates too much from the mainstream, unless it sells like gangbusters and demands it.  Third party made certain demands on Sony and Microsoft and they corresponded.  Pretty much everything is meant to be versions of the PC platform so porting is a snap.  Sony gave the this, and Microsoft is likely to follow suit.  The Wii U does its own thing, so don't expect it.  Of course, if things change and the WIi U takes off, look for the PS4 and next Microsoft console's content to be dumbed down to match what the Wii U is capable of doing.

Nintendo lied to you.

How about console partisans on the Internets?  Anyone else remember this image?

Promised by who? Perhaps kowenicki? I remember him saying that Nintendo will dominate Japan.

Metal Gear Rising not coming to the Wii U doesn't have anything to do with Platinum Games. It's Konami's decision; a company that has stayed clear of Nintendo home consoles for a long time now.

Anyway, I for one am shocked that a Nintendo console that is powerful enough to run any PS3/360 multiplatform title gets hardly any of said titles.

Developers feel too comfortable with the combined ps3/360 userbase. Really I blame Nintendo for not securing any big 3rd party titles for Q1, even if it meant financing it themselfs. If Tomb Raider, DMC, MSG Rising or Bioshock came to the wii U on time, I'm sure it would sell enough to convince 3rd parties thats ports are worth their effort.

Instead 3r parties only have Assasins creed and COD. AC was late and COD has too strong of an emphasis on multiplayer.

Bioshock would have been the Ideal game to demonstrate that the Wii audience are hungry for Quality and mature 3rd party experiences.

Only a fool would pay for the same treatment others get for free. Third parties didn't need anything to start making PS4 and 720 versions of their upcoming games despite not knowing anything about how those platforms will perform early in their lifecycle.

Well clearly they gauged the reaction to Wii U from the moment it was announced. There has never been excitement for the systems and its specs don't necessarily warrant an upgrade for ps3/360 owners, at least where 3rd party titles are concerned. For the developers we are talking about ( makers of traditional core games), their audience lies in the ps3/360 owner... The Wii U has never been in a position to grab that market and nore is it in a position to fully realise their next gen ambitions. Its just in an awkward place... If Nintendo invested effort into showing 3rd parties that they can make money from the Wii U's early adopter then there would be more multiplatform titles coming to the system. In turn they would be selling more hardware. Despite being a fan of the Nintendo's 1st party titles I simply can't warrant spending money on a Wii U when I know that 90% of the games I want to play between now and winter won't be on the system.

If you bought a mid-range PC 5 years ago(2008), you would have a Phenom X3/Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB DDR2 RAM and a PCI-E compatible motherboard. You would just need to buy a new graphics card to be able to play new games on high settings.

My rig has tech from 2008, it's a Phenom X3 8650 2.3GHz and has 2GB RAM DDR2. I have a GTS 450 on my PC and almost every new game I buy I can play on high settings at 768p and >40FPS. Altough sometime you will need to upgrade your entire PC, after 5 years I can still play games on high changing only my GPU. If you bought a mid-range PC back in the day, you could still upgrade your processor(to a Phenom II or Core 2 Quad) and RAM without needing to change the motherboard(and thus the whole PC) if extra performance is needed to run new games. If you buy console games for 5 years, the extra money you spent on them would probably be enough to upgrade your PC thanks to the price difference.

I agree with the part that most games cannot be enjoyed on low settings, but thanks to how long this gen has dragged on, you'll only have problems running games on high/medium settings if your PC is too old, has an Atom processor or both. Also, Minecraft and Diablo 3 are quite taxing on the PC, you won't run those easily with a old PC.

Which is all fine and right, but this is the time where games improve a lot faster than before. I doubt you can run BF3 on high settings. MGS V has a completely new "next gen ready" engine and Watch Dogs also looks rather advanced. GTA V is likely going to be just as unoptimized for PC as GTA IV was.
From there on it's only going to get "worse" for such old PCs.

Also only 2 GB RAM ? I know several games that need far more than that on high settings. (Still running XP ?)

I agree with you, however, seeing as these next-gen games are still going to be released on PS3/360, I don't believe PC users with older PCs will have many problems running these games, at least while last gen systems keep receiving games.

And, yeah, still on XP here. I'm going to buy another 2GB stick to be able to play a few new games anyway, since I can't even start Planetside 2 thanks to the RAM limitation they put on the final game. Otherwise, most XP compatible games I've been able to run at high settings.

The Japanese support I was expecting for Wiiu would be in the form of exclusives which are much more powerfull than being a system like Xbox that just gets multiplat japan games. Nintendo and Sony will lead the way in Japanese exclusives. What comes to mind already in terms of wiiu is Project X, Shin Magami Tensie Cross Fire Emblem, Dragon Quest X, Bayonetta 2 and Monster Hunter Tri HD.
