Forums - PC - Thinking of returning my laptop. Should I swap it for this?

My current laptop specs are listed in my sig. It is an Alienware M14X R2. Only had it for about 2-3 days so far.

Intel Core i7-3610QM @ 2.3-3.3GHz w/6MB Cache, 6GB DDR3 RAM (@1600MHz), NVIDIA GT650M 2GB GDDR5/Intel HD4000, 500GB SATA 7200RPM HDD, 1366x768 WLED Display, Windows 8 Pro 64-bit.

The other laptop I was looking at is this one by Asus.

I ask this because while I am having little issue running games (Vanilla Skyrim on high settings averages ~35-40fps), I want to see if I can get a little better performance for that price range (~$800-$1000). I would be returning it to Bestbuy by the way, so if you have betetr suggestions for a gaming laptop please let me know. I will even go as high as $1100 if necessary. (That's my absolute limit at the moment)

Thanks in advance.

I was looking into that and saw that the GTX660M is easily better than the one I have now, but would the i5 compared to the i7 make much difference?

for current gen gaming it doesn't matter.. BUT.. with the new gen coming up.. I'm not sure.. it could be that the new game engines will utilize all cores and Hyperthreading for the i7 since the next xbox and ps will use lots of cores...

I'm guessing with Integrated graphics only, though. Not a gaming video card.

True. I have also heard some bad stories about Asus build quality compared to my Alienware, which is heavy, but it feels very sturdy and quality built.

Loud as hell though. WIsh I could figure out a way to quiet that fan down.

really? I have always read that Asus was a real quality company. Not many frills, but good bang for your buck and good build quality.

I also read that it is great bang for your buck, but that the build quality is shoddy and the customer service is terrible.

Still, that GTX 660 could make a big difference for me.

Either way, I still have a few hours to get more input from people since I am at work.
