Nintendo is running a promotion right now that, if you purchase a 3DS and register it to your Club Nintendo account between February 14 and April 30, then register either Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity or Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, you are entitled to a free digital download of one of five games.
These five games are:
-Freakyforms Deluxe
-Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
-Super Mario 3D Land
-Starfox 64 3D
-Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone
Now, that's all fine and dandy, but if you're a more loyal Nintendo customer, Nintendo says you can go fuck yourself.
Here's their response to me when I wrote to complain about the fact that I'm excluded from a free game simply because I was among the first to support them:
Thanks for writing back with your feedback. I first want to let you know that I understand how you feel about this and I want to assure you that I will document your inquiry about this and add it to our records for Club Nintendo. We appreciate your being an early supporter of the Nintendo 3DS XL.
This promotion is geared to help drive sales during the time period of March 21st to April 30th. In order not to leave out those who purchased their systems slightly earlier than this, we have a grace period going back to February 14th. I know it is disappointing to miss out, but we hope for your understanding.
I also hope that you continue to enjoy your Nintendo 3DS XL system and continue to participate in the Club Nintendo program. There may be new offers in the future, so please keep an eye on the Club Nintendo homepage.
Do you agree with me that this is bullshit? I understand their wanting to drive sales for a certain time period, but especially after they were so awesome with the Ambassador program, why on earth are they going to pull this kind of crap now? I say we don't stand for it! If you already had a 3DS XL prior to this promotion, write them and tell them how you feel!
There's no reason we should be left out.
