I wonder what are the "innovations in control input" he is expecting from PC gaming.

We will see what Valve is cookin up

OT:  American McGee was always a bit of a nut

What do you mean? Steambox? That is hardly a PC, is it?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

It is. Valve said so themselves.

Nobody knows who American Mcgee is, but.....ok.

PS4 will beast. I think it has already won.

Actually a lot of people know who he is.  He is great and a lot of people wanted him to make an Alice movie after a lot of people felt Tim Burton didnt do Alice justice a few years ago.

Here is some games he has worked on.

Steambox is a PC in a cutom box, but I was refering to their controller they are aparently working on.

They will aparently be starting public beta testing of Vavle hardware soon, whether that is their controller, "steambox" turnkey TV PC box solution, their VR stuff or their augmented reality/wearable computing project only lord GabeN knows. Tho aparently they did gut their hardware department so it's all up in the air at this point.

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

I hate "analysts" who predict that mobile gaming on iPads and Android phones will take over the console industry. It's ludicrous.

"EA and Blizzard didn't mean for the servers to fail on launch"

There should be no servers for single player games!

That doesn't necessarily assures this thing to be a PC and not a console. It could be a marketing approach. We will have to wait and see.

@dobby985 as well,

I left this topic resting for the day cuz I needed to ponder about it. I think this discussions is quite pointless at this point because we barely know anything about this thing, but I will try to consider some of the possibilities of this platform or whatever.

To begin with, I think the lines between consoles and PCs are getting blurred more and more. So how do we define what makes a PC and what makes a console? I will try not to create and argument about this. People can simply jump into this thread and argue that having X thing or things and not having X things would make a platform a PC, I won't be surprised if soon we will see an argument created about what is a PC and what is not. I even recall reading comments around the web from people who already considered consoles some kind of a PC. I don't think they still have gotten there yet though.

I read some of the little info we got on this thing at the moment and I don't see anything announced yet that can convince me this thing is a PC. Of course, like I said, we barely know anything from this thing. I read that it will run operating systems, the PS3 ran Linux at some point, does that made the PS3 a PC? I wouldn't be surprised if some people believe it so.

But my stand on this is, in order for something to be a PC, especially a gaming PC, it will need to have full customizable hardware to make it be subject to upgradable components that can provide the same experience PC has and allow PC gamers to enjoy that advantage over consoles, one of those advantages apart from modding, maxing games in custom hardware.

The controller, well, we will see as well.

The Steambox or whatever it will be called will have multiple SKUs with completly different hardware capabilities. Ranging from a ~$99 HTPC box designed to stream games over a network like the Nvidia Sheild, to a full spec box capable of running full games it's self. It will come with some version of Linux and will be able to play games from the already available Linux Steam library, and will have the option to install full windows if the user is so inclined. I don't see how that can't be considered a PC. PS3 could install a specialised version of Linux but you couldn't run any PC linux apps as far as I know, anything would have to be specifically ported and you only had access to a subset of the PS3 hardware (no SPEs etc) so that is a very different situation.

By your fully configurable hardware definition most laptops and many all-in-one PCs would not be considered PCs which makes the definition invalid in and of it's self.
