And heavy rain is better than Lemmings. Tomb Raider is a cimpletely different game. These comparisons only exist because Tomb Raider fans are upset Uncharted was inspired by their series.

Hmm I used to be a tomb raider fan but haven't played this one yet because it's trying to be more like Uncharted. I haven't played the new TR yet because tombs and puzzles are no longer the main focus. Tomb raider should be a completely different game, the fact that people compare it to Uncharted proves my point that it's not a tomb raider game.

Uncharted is the male tomb raider and now tomb raider is uncharted.  These two can live beside each other as they are both excellent series but dont forget what is what.  They both have influenced each other in a way, not one primarily over the other.

Tomb Raider is more like Uncharted fused with Rambo!

TR is not as similar to Uncharted as many people think. A lot more over the top action, much larger enviornments to explore, upgrades, more tactical combat, etc. You can even fast travel to previous areas but with your new equipment so you can reach areas you couldn't before!

Frankly, I wasn't that interested in Tomb Raider because I heard it was like Uncharted and I wasn't in the mood for more Uncharted. But it turned out to be something more unique than I anticpated.

News flash, Uncharted mutiplayer wasn't good either.

Anyhow, multiplayer was just crowbarred in both. The best reason to buy those games is the campaigns.

You like to shove your opinion as facts around here.

Why are you complaining to me but not the guy I'm responding to? I actually played both.

Good point... I don't really have many fond memories of the Uncharted series.

I enjoyed them enough to play though them. That's worth something.

Considering you barely enjoyed Uncharted, comparing it with Tomb Raider doesn't really do Tomb Raider justice. Any decent game would be better than Uncharted in your opinion. But Tomb Raider is much more than "just" a decent game and deserves a much more impressive comparison.

It's like comparing '96 Ford escort with a brand new Ferrari to demonstrate the quality of the Ferrari. It doesn't really make sense and you'd do a much better job comparing the Ferrari with a higher quality car.

Eh?

Here's a comparison. I didn't enjoy the Battlefield 3 campaign because it sucks. Does that mean I can't compare it with the CoD campaigns which are actually good in comparison?

You're basically saying I can't compare game A to game B if I didn't enjoy game A as much as game B. I'm a fan of the genre so I'm allowed to compare Uncharted to Tomb Raider.

You can compare anything you want. That wasn't my point. You made this thread to tell how much you loved Tomb Raider. You wanted to convince everyone that it was a great game, or at least you felt it was. Therefore, comparing it with Uncharted makes no sense. From you, saying its better than Uncharted doesn't show how great of a game it is. Because you didn't think Uncharted was very good, being better than Uncharted doesn't mean much. Being better than Uncharted just shows that its a decent game, not a great game.

You're Battlefield/CoD comparison only makes sense if you want to say the BF campaign sucks. If you really want to show that the CoD campaign is good, then you would compare it with a high quality campaign, not a crap campaign. Any okay campaign would be better than BF's crappy campaign. So saying CoD's campaign is better than CoD's campaign doesn't prove much. It just proves that its better than crap, which isn't much of an accomplishment.

For me it may be Uncharted/Tomb Raider >>> Uncharted 2 >>>>>> Uncharted 3

As the Uncharted franchise went on and it became more and more scripted, more and more about epic set pieces and cinematics, and became more and more of a movie than an actual game, I became tired of it.

Tomb Raider has some similarities to Uncharted but also many things that make it very different. It's been a great success, so it makes me wonder where the developers will take it next. I really hope they take it in a direction that fleshes out the puzzles, awesome combat, and survival elements and don't go all cinematic scripted movie on us.

For me:

Uncharted 2 > Tomb Raider = Uncharted 3 > Uncharted 1

I don't really like the shooting mechanics of Tomb Raider though. Most of the fighting is frustrating and not nearly as rewarding as the Uncharted series. But I love the survival aspect of it and it succeeds at treasure hunting.

Okay, run with that. I didn't much care for Uncharted even though I played all the PS3 games. Yet I think Tomb Raider is fucking amazing!

To my surprise there are people here that agree TR is better than the Uncharted games. More surprising there are Sony fans that feel its at par with the Uncharted series. So that adds to the credibility of TR being a geninuely good game.

THE END!

The BF/CoD thing... NO! BF3 is an example of bad campaign. Black Ops is an example of a good campaign. One I enjoyed playing, the other I slogged through.

I'm not sure if this is sarcasm or if you're agreeing with me. If it's sarcasm, then you should see what you wrote here:

"Good point... I don't really have many fond memories of the Uncharted series.

I enjoyed them enough to play though them. That's worth something."

You admitted that you don't think Uncharted is that great. You only find it bearable. Now, let's go back to the point of this thread: You want to tell us how amazing Tomb Raider is. What's one way to do this? You can do this by comparing it to other great/amazing and by showing that Tomb Raider is on par or superior with them. What's one way not to do this? Comparing it with mediocre/bearable games. Comparing Tomb Raider with a mediocre game does not show how great Tomb Raider is.

Proving that game X is better than average does not show how great game X is. What's so hard to understand?

ITT: everyone's opinion

the new tomb raider is terrible, worst game i have purchased this year, and i brought trinity universe... *Shivers*
