Surprised this isn't mentioned more, if you're in the UK and can get to HMV and have been waiting for a big Wii U price drop, wait no more, HMV is selling them now for 199 pounds (roughly $260 US). That's the 32GB Nintendo Land bundle + a free copy of Zombi U on top of it. 

In the US as a seperate deal, you can get the basic 8GB Wii U from Best Buy for $249.99 now ($50 off). 

Perhaps Nintendo is bending towards retailers and giving them a break to help move Wii U inventory? My guess is HMV and Best Buy gave Nintendo a pretty stern talkin' to. 

I'm tempted to buy one at this price, but i'm still not too sure. It don't help that some of the HMV's are closing around here.

If I was in the UK I'd definitely bite for that price. That's like 130 pounds off!

Knowing my luck, it's probably sold out already! I can't even check their website anymore, it don't exist

For newbies I'd reccomend New Super Mario U + Need For Speed: Most Wanted U + 30 cent downloads of F-Zero (I think this is expired?) and Punch-Out!

Along with Zombi U and Nintendo Land that should tide you over until Pikmin 3 and The Wonderful 101 come along.

My local HMV closed about two weeks ago. I would've been very tempted.

That's crazy, but it's more to do with HMV situation i'd say. Even so, that's almost PS3 Prices.

What Best Buy is doing is nothing new. It`s not the first time a company offers 50$ with the purchase of a console. I could swear i have seen an offer of 100$ for Xbox 360, but i could be wrong.

The title of this thread is misleading.

HMV is going out of business (in the UK) and clearing everything.

It is a fantastic deal for WiiU and both a reflection of HMV's immenient closure as well as the hard time they are having moving WiiU stock but to say it's a 'Price Collapse' simply isn't true. Other stores will not match prices with a chain that's closing down.

Many stores are offering about $50 off the price though - which is at a lost to retailers and not a good sign.

A good move for making the console more popular.
