Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm sells 1.1 million in 48 hours

Blizzard reveals two-day sales of latest RTS exceeds platinum status but fail to match Wings of Liberty.

Blizzard Entertainment announced today that StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm sold through 1.1 million copies worldwide during its first 48 hours. This includes physical and digital copies, though a breakdown of sales between the two was not divulged.

 

The game did not match the sales pace set by its predecessor, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, which sold 1.5 million copiesover the same period of time in 2010.

Heart of the Swarm is the first of two expansions for Wings of Liberty. The third and final entry--Legacy of the Void--is currently in development and has no release date. It will focus on the Protoss race.

It deserves all those sales and more! Honestly EVERYONE should buy this game. There is no excuse not to. You can get the original and Heart of the Swarm for $60. Im surprised the sales are this low actually... Its one of the biggest franchises on PC ever created. But i think it will definitely have legs and end up selling considerably more.

i just came to say, jesus holy christ the campaign is worst than wings of liberty

blizzard of starcraft, broodwar, reign of chaos, frozen throne, the bloody Shakespeare of video game story telling has fallen to the level of a mexican telenovela (in space)

this is what star wars fans must feel like with jar jar bings sh*tting all over their beloved saga

As terrible as HotS' story is, their early work while entertaining and generally more enjoyable than both SC2 chapters so far wasn't exactly amazing storytelling ether.
