I'm not sure if it my wii or component cables but i started to notice that when playing my wii in 480p that the games have thin long black lines on screen during game play but when i go into the settings in switch over to 480i the lines disappear dose anyone else have this problem is there something wrong with my wii ?

yes i just notice when i was playing the purple coin challenge in Mario galaxy i was swimming underwater in that's when i notice the lines so i switches my wii to 480i played the same level again in the lines were gone its weird.

Perhaps you should consult Nintendo. Wait for a while first though so people with more knowledge on the subject can post, as all I can suggest is the same as I said to Soriku (who had white lines), which is to try re-plugging the Wii to TV cables as they may have been knocked.
I would guess this isn't the same problem as Soriku though.

just because your tv supports 480p does not mean it will display the Wii at 480p correctly.

I had both my DVD player and Wii hooked up at 480p, and the DVD player had no problems, yet the with the Wii, the whole thing looked to pixelated and the red pixels looked just horrible (and this was for any game i had). However, on my parents TV, which was comparable, you didn't see any of these problems whatsoever.

essentially, not all 480p signals are created equal, and sometimes TV's can't handle the slight differences.

However, I would consult Nintendo to see if its a known problem with your TV or the Wii, as I'm sure they've probably handled tons of calls about similar problems. (of course, tell them your using official cables even if your not as it doesn't make a difference, but they will say it does)

note, I didn't see your last post (sort of skipped over), in which case it could possibly be the Wii, which again, consult with Nintendo and make sure to give them your TV model and ask about any known compatibility problems.
