Forums - Gaming - Anyone else kind of disappointed with those Tomb Raider sales?

They are good sales. I think Tomb Raider 2 sold 6-7 mil copies, I don't think this game will match that, but these are good sales none the less.

The problem is releasing games like this at the end of console cycles. I don't know what kind of mentality publishers have for releasing reboots at the end of the console cycle.

Software sales are down year or year because we're approaching the end of the cycle. That being said 1 mil is very good, and that dosent include digital sales or Steam sales (if the game was available through those networks.

Better sales than expected tbh, and people saying legs are silly. This game will be lost post-E3.

I hear people claiming it is even better than Uncharted to them so that has peeked my interest and I might end up getting it myself. But for the IP and the history I would say the sales are pretty good...

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

No. I won't even judge its sales for another month or so as feel could have solid legs over next year. To me if it sells over 2 million that will warrant another entry in the series. Honestly, this could be the start of Tomb Raider returning to relevance if they keep this progression going. After Angel of Darkness I thought it was dead, so credit to Crystal Dynamics for trying different things to keep it going after Core drove it into the dirt.

1M copies sold in the first week isn't good enough ?

I am personally waiting for a WiiU port that most likely will not happen. I will wait 3 more months anyways and then I will buy the superior and cheaper PC version (which suffers from the typical console port flaws like   PRESS ?????? in quick time events.  Or stuff like  press button 2. Wtf is button 2? Its mouse button 5 !)

Roughly 1.1 million first week sales look pretty good to me. Factor in digital sales and it's even more impressive. So yeah, very solid sales in my book.

If a game selling over 1 million first week than i would say its qute a success.

1M first week for a franchise that has been down the drain for quite a while now, it's pretty good, could see this installment hitting 3.5/4.0M combined on all platforms retail + digital.

I hardly think 1 million copies for the re-launch of a previously dying series could be considered disappointing. It's especially impressive if you compare it to the 0.25 million from underworld's launch.
