Combat: Uncharted
Platforming: Tomb Raider
Puzzles: Tomb Raider
Exploration: Tomb Raider
Set-Pieces: Uncharted

Graphics: Uncharted
Sound: Uncharted

Overall: Uncharted

Uncharted 2 & 3 are stellar games imo. Tomb Raider is great, but just not on the same level.

From what I can tell from this post, Tomb Raider is superior in most of the ways that matter.

Keep in mind that neither game is a incredibly complex and deep but Tomb Raider does have much more depth than the Uncharted titles.  I don't think that anyone can argue that (provided they play both).  The thing is, we have a breed of gamer that doesn't actually want to play a game (and yeah, sometimes, I fall into that demographic).  They just care about graphics and story.  Nothing wrong with that.  The thing is, I personally think that Tomb Raider beats Uncharted in those areas, too!

Based on ghettoglamour's categories, I'd say Uncharted beats Tomb Raider in characters (Sully and Elena ftw!) and having a tighter, but not actually better, story.  That's it.  But, like they say, opinions are like assholes--Everybody's got one and most of them stink.

Sure, I can understand your point of view. As you said, Tomb Raider is a little more complex, has more depth in gameplay, which I really enjoyed. The thing is, I don't really care if a game is incredibly linear (like Uncharted) as long as it provides epic set pieces which got my heart pounding and delivered some adrenaline rushes (like Uncharted 2 and 3, or God of War 3). Those kinda moments really stay in my mind forever and I really appreciate, and I didn't have those in Tomb Raider.

I guess it's kinda easy to wow me with set-pieces and Uncharted has the best imo.

I also liked the combat in Uncharted better. The AI in Uncharted is kinda challenging on normal, you can't just stay behind cover and kill everybody, gotta keep moving, climbing etc. There are also very cinematic moments that blend together with tight combat and platforming at the same time (like the train and ship levels). In Tomb Raider you're an overpowered little girl that beats the shit out of retarded soldiers. Hard on TR is easier than U2 & U3 on normal.

Tomb Raider also wants to fool you in cutscenes, showing a weak, unexperienced Lara, and then you kill dozens of men with brutal finishers. This made me actually disconnect with the character after a while. It's just a joke. Not a serious issue though, the game was still damn fun to play.

Uncharted on the other hand doesn't take itself too seriously. I'd love to hang out with Drake, Sully, Elena or Chloe if they were real persons.

Overall, both have their strengths, but Uncharted is just the more polished, spectacular and epic package to me, which Tomb Raider can't match with its deeper gameplay mechanics. But I repeat, I can understand that other people enjoy or prior other things in games, and Tomb Raider can easily match the preferences of others better.

PS: About playing old games that never get old. THAT'S A BIG FAT LIE. EVERY single game older thant 7 years is FUCKING OUTDATED now. Not only graphics, but also control, gameplay mechanics, accesibility, level design.

I'm 26 yrs old, but I've missed many classics because I didn't have much money as a kid or teenager and my parents didn't like gaming very much. I've played many classics from the PS/64 to PS2 era in the last couple of years and every single of them was outdated. Not saying all of them weren't fun to play, but a lot of things which today aren't an issue, were a pain in the ass back then. If you are not biased by nostalgia, the "good ol' games" are just not that hot anymore. Sorry.

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

Around the Network

Well I have not played Tomb Raider yet, but I am a fan and have played the majority of the older titles. I have played every Uncharted game and I enjoyed each title, especially the second game. If Tomb Raider is better then that's a good thing in my eyes, because then Naughty Dog will have more motivation to excel and ensure the next Uncharted game is even better. At the end of the day I win since they'll continue to push the envelope. If TR is not better then that's fine too, at least the guys at Crystal Dynamics will know what areas to hit in their next game. Either way I intend to get it when I'm on break from school. Looks awesome!

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

Just beat the game. The final area is probably my favorite. Such nice platforming bits and awesome enemies. I like that the enemies will destroy your cover and try to flank you out instead of just bum rushing you wave after wave like Uncharted. The puzzles and tombs really go up a notch in the last couple portions of the game too. Nothing too difficult to solve, but they are all really cool. I love these physics based puzzles in the game, they really work well. But then you're sometimes just given a room you need to figure out, like the elevator portion.

For the sequel I hope they dial the puzzles and gore up another notch.

I just beat it 30 mins ago, myself. Some of the complaints people made about the game didn't actually happen (Lara's wound opening up at the end of the game). Just shows that....actually, I don't know what it shows. People want to hate the game, I guess.
