Another problem is simply the Box of the system. The Wii U stands right next to Xbox 360 and PS3. and what are you seeing on the 349 $ Wii U? It says "32 GB". On the next spot, you see a PS3 for 299 $ with two controllers, which says "500 GB". I'm sure there are more than enough people who are going to assume that the PS3 is superior. You know, like iPhones and such, they get more expensive with more space. Just imagine the amount of uninformed people. It is by far not the biggest problem of Wii U, but is one of many small issues and overall just bad marketing. Even more on the basic model. I mean, come on, 8 GB? That is nothing nowadays. It just isn't attractive. And if someone uninformed buys the system just to see that of the minimalistic 8 GB there are only 3 GB available to the user, he sure as hell won't be very pleased. Nintendo is disappointing their buyers and that is very dangerous. Just look at Sony, it took them years to work on their bad reputation.
On another note, if I buy a console, I expect it to work right out of the box. I don't want to buy external hard drives or stuff like that. I don't even think about that when I'm standing in a store. It was also a very bad decision by Nintendo to not bundle an AC Adapter with the 3DS XL in europe. I mean, seriously? You're buying Nintendo products and they don't work like you expect them to work. And that is a very flawed business model.
