The numbers would be even higher if the tracking firms didn't undertrack the Wii because they don't have the two places where a lot of people buy Wii games -- Wal-Mart and Toys R Us. (And if you don't believe me, stand around a display case at one of those stores (esp. Wal-Mart) and see what happens).

I just think that old algorithms fall short in the new market.

I'm trying to make some fair bets now, only Mario games vs the best Ps3 has to go with

MKWii+SMG vs FFXIII + GTA IV Ps3

SPM + Mario and Sonic vs MGS4 + GT5

MP8 + Mario Strikers vs Resistance 2 + DMC 4

Wario Ware + Mario Baseball vs Street Fighter IV + Killzone 2

Those are all pretty even, and that is Mario vs ALL of PS3.

MKWii+SMG vs FFXIII + GTA IV Ps3 FFXIII Alone might beat those two! MKWii won't sell more than 2-3M, people will buy the superior racer. SPM + Mario and Sonic vs MGS4 + GT5 LOL! Gt5 will outsell both easily! Look at the earlier GT5 sales! MP8 + Mario Strikers vs Resistance 2 + DMC 4 Two showelware titles vs quality? Are you joking? Wario Ware + Mario Baseball vs Street Fighter IV + Killzone 2 Mario Baseball won't make 500K! Streetfighter will sell 3 times as much as those COMBINED!

I usually don't do bets, but I bet nutboy that MKWii & SMG beat the PS3 GTA & FF WW by the end of each month.
Ex: SMG month 1 + MKWii month 1 vs. PS3 GTA month 1 vs. FF month 1.

First off, the worst selling Mario Kart game EVER sold 5.5 Million units and Mario Kart games released to popular platforms sell between 8 and 10 Million units; your prediction of 2-3 Million simply demonstrated ignorance.

Regardless of whether you're willing to accept it or not, there are many warning signs for Gran Turismo 5 being that Gran Turismo 5: Prologue has sold to (roughly) 1/3 the number of people who bought Gran Turismo 4: Prologue and Gran Turismo 4 sold worse than many Mario Kart games have. There is no way to tell for sure, but it is quite plausable that Gran Turismo 5 could sell below Gran Turismo 4 levels, and could end up only selling 4 to 6 Million units (if not bundled).

Final Fantasy has seen declining sales over the years, has a much worse track record when released to unpopular systems. Metal Gear Solid is also a game which has seen declining sales over the years, and Metal Gear Solid 3 was released for the super popular PS2 and still did not break 4 Million units sold; this could imply sales of below 3 Million units for Metal Gear Solid 4.
