Forums - Sony - PS4 not worth the cost says Nvidia (Read thread, not title)

If you read the original article he's talking about next-gen consoles in general, not PS4 in particular.

Basically Nvidia was charging too much so Sony/MS/Nintendo all went to AMD. At least 1 of these next-gen consoles will explode in popularity so either way you look at it, Nvidia is the loser.

that is good, means that Sony is worried about cost, wich is important to their survival, makes me happy.

So is Microsoft since they also went with AMD. Herp Derp.

Maybe not an X86 option but they have a very capable ARM SoC option in their Tegra line.

Yeap but not the better choice for PS4... Sony wanted to make the console more easly possible for developers (PC like is the best option here).

Seems like that now yes... However when Apple releases an iConsole in a few years and it starts owning the living room on a non PC/ARM arcitechture, we may think differently.

An apple console? Looks like the PS3's launch price is set to be 'reasonable' in comparison

>_> One would think maybe that would prompt you to go back and read the two posts, but apparently not.

(for the sake of brevity, Cgi only thinks the purposely misleading title is harsh, but the article is fine, and you agree that if someone is mislead by the title it would appear harsh, but the article is fine)

No, I disagreed with CGI that the title was harsh. I don't think the title is harsh at all. I did say that it could be viewed incorectly to be harsh. My point is that the title is fine.

Then you would be objectively wrong.

Why would anyone assume that a company like Nvidia would comment on the value of the PS4 at retail when no retail price has been given and the product won't be on shelves for half a year AND we don't even know what it will look like or what the full list of features are?

If you think the title is harsh it's because you jumped to a conclusion way out of context.

In the context of Nvidia it is not harsh for them to say the PS4 is not worth ther business. Like I said, that's not harsh it's just business.

Not exactly.  MSFT is not in financial trouble, sony is.  Of course it is important for MSFT to so they can make a profit but i believe you read into his comment the wrong way.

ok dude, you obviously knew instantly that nvidia was referring to the concept of lost potential income in relation to manufacturing for the ps4. You're 1 out of 1000.

What's funny is that you say we're the ones jumping to conclusions, yet your interpretation is the one that involves logic and therefore a conclusion, while ours is the actual meaning of the words.

The title is missing several key phrases that would have made perfect sense.
"Manufacturing for the ps4 is not worth the cost of lost potential revenue"

That is what they were actually saying.

No, I didn't. All corporations love saving money, whether they are making billions of dollars in profit or making losses each quarter.

What happens if Sony and MS select AMD and then AMD goes bust?

they wont.

they're not depending on consoles.

Ok then i read you wrong.  I apologize then.  Yes it would be a great idea for both of them to save money and in my opinion it was a very smart decision from sony.
