In other words, nVidia were asking too high a price.

That wasnt really my point. The guy from NVidia is actually saying there wasn't enough margin for them. Thats fine, its a business decision. |
Ohhh i see now. That is a good question actually. I honestly don't know. They could possibly buy the tech that is made for those chips??? I really dont have a clue to be honest.
AMD is "bigger" than Nvidia and has a far more diverse product line. Taking on Intel was never going to be easy and cost a hell of a lot.
The fact that every home console now (or rather will) has AMD tech should go somewhere in easing their financial worries one would think.
The best part about misleading titles is that it creates subversiveness in benefit of the 'victim'.
I know it's not your fault Jay. Bad article is bad, and it actually makes Sony look better - not just because it's a lying title, but also because it shows that Sony got the best possible price for their console.
And yes, Nvidia is mad.

An element to keep in mind is that AMD does both GPU and CPU, nvidia don't make a system processor, combining the two on a single module reduces overall costs, if Sony and Microsoft went with nvidia they'd have to purchase a processor design seperately and not part of a package deal, resulting in a lower overall offer for the GPU design to leave money for CPU.
resorting with an APU allows them to pump the whole funds which would otherwise have been split between cpu and gpu, into one package.

To be honest I'm just glad people are reading the article instead of blaming me because that happens every once an a while. BUt yeah I found it interesting myself and I'm glad Sony was able to cut the price down> It shows they have learned something from this generation and pricing and that is a very good sign.

Maybe he sabotaged AMD from the inside before jumping ship!

For sure but I can't help thinking you can probably have a good career writing sensational headlines for a British tabloid :)

No it ain't, Sony might not pass that cost saving on to us, I hope they do but most companies don't do that.... I am looking at you Apple.
