PS3 has put up some pretty good numbers for a system that has been on the market as long as it has.



I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

Hows that "PS3 flat or slightly down this year" going for you?

People are getting strangely giddy at the undertracking here, but this result still has PS3 down 27% YOY.  So my prediction of PS3 down by about 30% (and 360 down by 35 to 40%) is pretty good dont you think?

Some more crow for you.  Thats 3 courses you have now.  Bon appetit.

VGC painted a bleak picture when in reality it was only 25% and 29% for PS3 and 360 for February. Probably less so for Europe.

Holy crap the VGC numbers are WAAAAAAayyyyyy off the mark this month. So far off as to lose any credibility. Sorry ioi but 250% difference on Wii? 100% difference on PS3 and 50% difference on 360?

WiiU looking better in total sales but even further behind in marketshare here.

Same for Vita and with poor Western support I don't know if there's any hope for it outside JP now. But who knows, maybe a price cut would do wonders.

Not really amazing, I checked the charts and It looks pretty typical.

In each of the 3 big markets since January 2011 one console consistently outsold the others: 1 month out of 26 the Wii beat the 360 on USA, 1 month out of 26 the Wii beat the PS3 in Japan, PS3 always top in Europe.

Globally in those 26 same months Wii came on top once, 360 3 times, the PS3 the rest.

So having consistent relative weights in sales, after the last big Wii christmas in 2010 about 26 months ago, seems to be the norm, not the exception.

Reposting this because I discovered an error in the source I was using, which simply said January 2006 360 sales were 50k less than December 2005 numbers. This was incorrect, as they were only 31k lower.

That 19k boost means the Wii U is actually behind both the PS3 and 360.

Whilst bleak, it's certainly not as bad as many may have feared this time yesterday.

It's good to see the industry is healthier than what we had here, but the tracking by vgc is awful :/

christ that ps3 vs 360 gap is small. unbelievable small in a region MS has "on lock". gives me hope that next gen is up for grabs and a well marketed/featured ps4 could once again win my market.
