I think it may stem from a lot of the posts he makes about tech specs as many of the times they seem to have implications beyond just the facts.

Beyond that, I don't know what else he says that would make people not like him as compared to some of the other posters I've seen here that get a lot less "hatred."

well let's be honest here..outside of maybe 1 person in this site (zarx) everyone else does the same thing (in tech discussions). It's all speculation for the most part and time to time people get shit wrong. They shouldn't get too much beef for it. I mean honestly I think he is one of the best posters in this site when it comes to being respectful to other posters he is talking to. Don't think I have ever seen him angry..ever

I suppose so, but I think it's more because ethomaz has a lot of believeable (and/or correct) tech info, people take him more seriously than those who seem to just be trolling/flaming/etc.  That's just what I think, but I really try not to get too involved as it really does nothing for me.

Since everyone is sharing their love, I'll say I like ethomaz too. His only fault is being overly optimistic sometimes, but he doesn't hate on other consoles/members. Plus he provides useful info about GT sales, adjustments and tech stuff.

Thanks, wasn't sure they were accurate numbers or not. I skimmed through a few posts and there seemed to be some debate.

He wasn't correct actually, rejoice! But he was closer than VGC

 

Hardware

Hardware sales sputtered out another big loss year-over-year. Total hardware dropped to $244.2 million from $382.9 million in 2012. That’s a 36 percent decrease, but the bad news

“Looking at hardware sales on an average per week basis, all platforms showed an increase from January into February,” said Callahan. “Specifically, new platforms like the Wii U and PS Vita demonstrated some momentum from the typical January hardware lull with increases of over 40 percent and 30 percent, respectively.”

The Wii U sold an estimated 55,000 units in January. A 40 percent increase would put in in the 80,000 range, but it failed to outpace the Xbox 360 yet again.

“Xbox 360 topped hardware sales for February 2013, which marked the nineteenth straight month it has led hardware sales,” said Callahan.

The Xbox 360 sold 302,00 units, according to Microsoft. GamesBeat asked but Nintendo and Sony did not share the specific of their sales.

That source is wrong as Wii U increased 40% on average per week basis. Jan was 5 weeks Feb was 4 weeks.
