I agree with you on needing to have the OS on a flash storage. However, smaller loading times is a high priority for me and as such I would rather have an SSD.

Various benchmarks have shown that games on the PS3 have anything from very slightly shorter to signifcantly shorter loading times. And this is on a console that was never built, or at least optimized to work with such hardware. PS4 will surely be prepared to take advantage of all the benefits that SSD's provide.

A premium version with 64 / 128gb ssd + 500gb hdd would be ideal.
Games install on the ssd, any other media and background downloads use the hdd.
It would make the sytem too expensive though, over $200 just for storage media.

A 1tb model is not a far stretch, they're not that much more then 500gb drives. Sony wants to launch it's 4K download service with the ps4 with 100gb downloads for movies. Maybe useless in most of America, but Japan is probably ready for it.
It's going to be called a 1000gb model though, 1000 is more then 1 for marketing.

500gb, hopefully they'll adopt the same swapping disk system to make it easier to upgrade.

No platinum trophies? Man, buy Telltales The Walking Dead adventure game on PSN, you get a platinum after completing th game.

I'll take priority in getting the games I want over a game I don't, from a show I don't like. I don't prioritize platinum trophies either.

Hell I can't even consider getting the game of thrones game and I love the show... The game looks like crap.

500GB for the premium and 32gb flash memory for the tard pack.

Then he'll send one to Iwata, Reggie, Gates, Matterick, Balmer, Samsung's CEO, and Steve Jobs' grave just to be a dick about it.

500GB-1TB

500GB is entry level size for HDD even now, by PS4 launch it will be dirt cheap and 250GB model could already be in short supply and actually more expensive and with no warranty of having the necessary supplies of them.

32 or 64GB flash memory model could be introduced after one year or later as the first entry level model priced $299 (during the first year $399 should be an acceptable entry level price).

Edit. PS I agree with many people that the HDD will have to be standard, not proprietary, and easily replaceable, like in PS3, otherwise it will be perceived as a step back.

In terms of speed which is better? SSD or Flash memory? Or both are the same thing?

Depends. There are so many differences with flash memory. It depends on the chips and the controller and some other parts. There are really fast SSDs as well as some slow models. With Flash memory, you can get USB-Sticks for less than 5 bucks that have slower reading times than even optical media. But Flash Memory is also able to outperform every HDD without problem. It will be more expensive though. But all in all, SSDs and Flash Memory should be about the same, as they use the same technology. An advantage for Flash however is, that it doesn't need to connect using S-ATA, which can limit the speed depending on the controller.

It has to have at least 1 TB of space, cosidering 4K

Its gotta have atleast 500GB if they want to push Digital Downloads (more money for them).

The more you can download on a console, the more money they can make from digital sales.

Think about it.... big games like Killzone:SF will probably be 50+GB, and thats just 1 game.
