Woman 'shot' and wounded as she cooks a snack after bullets left in her OVEN explode

A woman cooking herself a snack has been wounded after the bullets her roommate left inside the oven exploded and sprayed her with shrapnel.

Aalaya Walker, 18, preheated the oven of her apartment in Tampa, Florida, on Monday to make herself waffles - not knowing that Javarski 'JJ' Sandy, 25, had stashed his pistol magazine with four live rounds in the appliance.

Ms Walker was hit in the chest and the leg by shrapnel from at least one round.

Mr Sandy, who legally owns a .45-caliber Glock 21 semiautomatic pistol, told police he took the magazine out of his gun and put it in the oven. He put the gun itself in a drawer, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

He never explained to officers why he put the clip with four live rounds in the oven.

Police determined that Mr Sandy, who works at WalMart, had committed no crime. He was not charged.

Ms Walker said she picked brass shell casing fragments out of her skin as she rode the bus to the hospital.

Officers described her injuries as 'superficial' and not life threatening.

The oven in question didn't have a temperature gauge, so officers could not determine how hot it was when the rounds ignited.

However, the magazine had melted and the oven was heavily damaged.

Some reports indicate that pistol ammunition can ignite a temperatures as low as 290 degrees.

However, without the high-pressure of a gun chamber, the round is less likely to be deadly since the explosive force is dispersed.

Dog Shoots Owner: Florida Man Shot by Dog in Truck

A dog has shot its owner in Florida in the latest gun incident to hit the news.

According to reports, a Florida man was shot and wounded by his dog, although he survived without any serious injuries.

Gregory Dale Lanier, 35, of Frostproof, Fla. was reportedly in his truck with his dog on Saturday when the dog knocked a loaded gun off the seat and onto the floor.

When the gun landed the firearm went off, with the resulting bullet striking Lanier in his leg,
according to the Highlands Today newspaper.

Luckily for Lanier he was not seriously injured, although he still needed treatment on the gunshot wound.

He has told authorities that he was not aware that the .380 pistol was loaded at the time and was shocked that it had gone off.

Sebring Police have confirmed that they are treating the shooting as accidental, according to the Highlands Today. The dog will not be charged.

This is not the first time someone has been shot by their pets. Just in September a hunter in France was forced to have his right hand amputated when his dog set off his gun as the two of them "cuddled," according to the BBC.

Also in December 2011, a 78 year old man was shot as he was driving to a deer hunting spot. Billy E Brown was shot in the thigh, also by his dog, as he was driving to Pasco County, according to The Huffington Post.

Dogs doing drive-bys... what is the world coming to?

No gun-control needed, we need to ban ovens and dogs

Seems like we need to keep a closer eye on our dogs.

She still got hurt, though.

At least she took a bus to the hospital and didn't bother her man for a ride.
