What's the speed of the memory card? (how many MB a second)

I know you can buy 32 GB SD cards for $20.

And I know you can get Ultra 32 GB SD cards, which have a Speed of 30 MB a Second for $30, including at Best Buy.

There are also as high as a Extreme Pro 32 GB SD Card with a Speed of 135 MB a second.

Not much to write about, actually: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/df-hardware-how-fast-are-vita-memory-cards

Thanks, it seems to be at best, 7 MB a second.

Seeing as this is Sony Priority memory cards, it shouldn't be so hard to have a cheap price when there is no middle man.

I think Sony can definitely cut the price of memory cards with those specs.

And......out of stock. You snooze you loose..

Sold out

It does seem these cards are just slightly faster than SD but they are required so there isn't much a choice. I'm not sure if SD will ever be available because I'm not sure how important those read speeds or the type of card are in the execution of the game, regardless Sony put  these in for security reasons so I don't see a future model using SD at all. There are two reasons for the high price on these memory cards, 1. Sony is selling them for a profit either to just make money or subsidize the cost of the Vita to that $250 low point, and 2. Since these are new memory cards they probably have lower yield rates, needed new manufacturing design schematics, and new equipment to make them. There is just no way a new memory card can compete with the price of SD since millions upon millions of SD cards are made. These Vita cards will go down in price over time and will almost, though not tottally, get closer to the price of SD. I expect a price drop soon, but this 50% sale is the absolute maximum price cut these things might get and it would be that price for at least a year or two.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Thats still crazy expensive for memory. I bought 32GB SD card (Sandisk) on sale for $17.99 for my Wii U. Still don't know why Sony charges so much... even $50 seems like a lot.

That's the price they should have been in the first place.

I am not surprised the cards sold out so fast. In fact, I was expecting it. Every time there was a sale the cards sold out within an hour or 2, and this one was the cheapest.

I will admit, for a second I paused thinking this is still overpriced since as some of you have pointed out alternative cards at similar capacities are still much cheaper, even after the discount. However, I have little choice in the matter and I rather not wait another month or two for a sale. Plus, I have a HUGE Vita backlog from the sales that took place between when I got my Vita (Black Friday Amazon deal) and now. For now I’ll split my games between the 32 gb and 4 gb. Those should sustain me till a permanent price drop or a better sale next time.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

But in 2 years from now you will be able to get a 32 GB SD card for $5. I don't see Sony catching up to that.
