Personally i would expect sony to release in the same time frame as ms launches the next xbox. it would be quite a coup

They will announce theirs right after MS announces the slim 360 (see my expectations thread). MS will announce theirs this year, probably even show a prototype in Leipzig.

I say October 2008 at earliest, and December 2009 at the latest, unless they don't totally kill of BC it might be longer.

I don't know if it will be a "PS3 Slim" but I suspect that all of the consoles will get a redesign when they take advantage of the 45nm process (or at the latest the 32nm process). All systems will be able to reduce their cost, heat output, and the overall size of their systems.
