Forums - Gaming - Console price cuts, when/how much?

A few of the consoles on the market are in desperate need of a price drop and some are long overdue for one. When do you think each console will recieve one and how much will they cost afterwards?

Nintendo

Wii U-price cut to $249 for basic and $299 for deluxe to coincide with Pikmin release, $349 for ZombiU or Pikmin bundle

Wii-discontinue regular model, introduce Wii Mini at $99 in Spring/Summer

3DS-no cut this year but sometime in 2014 to $129, XL-$159

DS-2014 $69, XL-$99

Sony

PS3-around E3 either 250gb-$199, 500gb-$249 or introduce 12gb to US for $169 or $199 if 250gb is phased out

Vita-around E3 or coincide with Killzone for $199

PSP-sometime this year $99

Microsoft

360-around E3 either 4gb-$199 w/Kinect-$249, 250gb-$249 w/kinect-$299 or 4gb-$149 250gb-$199

Around the Network

Nintendo needs one over Christmas and in conjunction with a major release.

If Microsoft and Sony are smart, they won't cut the price on the PS3 or 360 this year. Doing so would only convince a few people to go for a current gen system over a next gen system. However, if one does it, the other will likely have to follow suit.

Wii U - Will not receive a price cut, and will instead have better versions of current hardware. The 8GB model will be phased out ASAP, and the 32 GB will become the new standard. The larger model could be anywhere from 64 GB to 256 GB.

Wii - Will receive a price cut to $100 sometime soon, probably between March and September. That might be for just the console and not any games though. Alternatively, a $150 bundle with two games.

3DS - Will receive a minor price cut in the first half of 2014, down to $150 and $180. A new model might also be released around this time. Also, expect possible Pokemon bundles this holiday season.

DS - Price cut to $70 or $80 with the XL at $100 around this holiday season.

PS3 - Will receive a proper $200 model around the time the PS4's price is announced, with $250 bundles. Will be used to try to undercut the Wii U.

Vita - May receive a price cut of $50 soon, but expect all sorts of ploys to keep prices artificially high. For example, expect PS Plus to be marketed heavily while memory card prices remain high.

PSP - Will have a price cut to $100 around the same time the Vita gets a cut. Nobody in America will notice.

360 - A $150 version will exist before 2013 is through, although bundles will still cost as much as $300.
