Where does it say that? It says retail servers. Maybe he is just having a hard time connecting or something. But publishers usually allow games to be played online before release because people need to review them. It's not like they aren't playing the "final multiplayer".

SSM I believe has specifically said that they were invited to a special thingie where they got to try it out.

Too lazy to find source and one can interpret that in various ways anyway

Yeah it was spot on and I agree with the if it aint broke dont fix it. But at the same time: What can they possible do to top GoW3? I freaking cant think of anything. New gods and new mythology isn't enough if it plays out the same way. Give us something that feels as fresh as God of War 1 did. They did it once! They can do it again.

They can't do it with Kratos that's for sure.  They're better off starting fresh and putting Kratos to rest for set years.

It would be so epic if they could produce a new hero and then reintroduce Kratos as a villain several years/games later o.O

Well Jaffe's original idea for God of War 3 was to turn him into the grim reaper.  His blades were going to be exchanged for a scythe.

It sounds too much, especially how the hype for GoW3 was after how GoW2 ended, to have Zeus die so fast and then introduce all other myths. But yeah, in the long run it'd be cool, just not THAT fast of a transition.

I personally wouldn't transition like that, it didn't really work with Hercules and Xena.  I just say start over with a new character/mythos and start fresh. Plus it'll let them experiment with ideas ala Darksiders (Though Darksiders 2 is an example of what not to do).  Then you can switch back to Kratos with fresh ideas.

Yeah sure, or just add an encounter with Kratos at the end of that game. I mean imagine meeting him and being like: Oh fuck xD. Hell they can do one game with the new protagonist. If people like him, they keep him. Otherwise they kill him off early in the second game by having Kratos kill him, pulling a Kojima on MGS2 so we think we wont play as Kratos but we really do LOL

I'm pretty sure SSM decided where the franchise was going next quite some time ago. It's going to be interesting to see what they do next, but I'm pretty sure Kratos will still be the main character.

As long as they freaking move forward and not backwards, im OK with that.

for a AAA game, you expect it to be at least a 9.   Or how did you expected Halo4 to be reviewed? with 8s?? I really think you expected it to be an ultra masterpiece that should be rated accordingly.   I think like that, but with GOW:Ascension.   It deserves better score (the demo, leaked playthroughs, and videos are spectacular for me), so hopefully IGN will give it a 9 to bump up the overall score.

I was pissed when I saw the score.  I am calmed now, but still this game deserves better!!!

GOW:Ascension is a step forward in any possible direction if you ask me.   Hopefully Sony and their new Advertisement partner, can make some awesome TV ads in order to counter all the shit that happened today!! So that millions of people buy the game.  This game deserves at least 3.5M!!

PLEASE SONY USE SOME OF THE BILLIONS YOU GOT FOR SELLING THE TOKYO HQ AND ADVERTISE THIS GAME!!!!

Relax mate, Gran Turismo 5 got 84 meta and it sold insanely well. The main reason I care about meta is for the developers. You know they're watching and you want them to be.. happy :P. This should get them to up their game even more, so yeah, it's not all bad.

I know it is in Portugues but I loved the reference.

My translation: "No Drake. You Can't Have These. Collect all artifacts in the game"... the others trophy names are amazing too.
